Hey... I've decided to come up with just a couple of rules... More like regulations, actually.

1. MTFs, please do feel free to post in here, as you can give us good advice and opinions. So don't be afraid to tell us what you think. And you can post new topics in here, too, if you'd like to ask us questions. On the other hand, if a topic is obviously for the FTMs, such as the topic, "did you ever enjoy wearing a dress," please keep in mind that we know you like wearing dresses, as you are MTF, so you probably don't need to tell us that. You can still respond in these topics, just try not to be overly obvious or redundant.

2. Also please keep in mind that (along with the other boards here) this is not a sex- line, or a place to hook up. Keep that in the personals section.

3. Polls here are specifically for FTMs. If you are an MTF, please refrain from voting in the FTM polls unless the particular poll has specified that ANYONE can vote. Otherwise it skews the results.

4. If you notice someone straying from these rules or posting inappropriate or abusive threads, PMs, etc., please let me or the Admin know so we can take care of the situation (and I'll try and keep my mailbox from getting too full!)

That's all for now-- these are things I've just noticed and thought I'd bring up. I may add more rules later. And please do remember that all the site-wide rules and guidelines apply here as well. If you stray from these rules, action will be taken.

In addition to the specific Transman section rules posted by Abraxas above, please make sure you're acquainted with the rules of the forum before posting here or anywhere else on this site:

http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/faq.php

If you have any questions about any rules or posts in this section, please feel free to send a private message to CaptLex or ZenFrost about this area, or any of the mods or admins in our absence.

You can find rules for this section here (http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/faq.php?faq=transmen#faq_ftm).

There are FtMs on this website. We are not in the Private GM Section, the Private F.A.B. Section, or the Safe Haven, but we are everywhere else. We visit and post in the Lounge, Media, Trivia, MtF, Young Members, New Members, Mental and Physical Health Issues and Religious Discussion Groups, Transsexual Forum and Body Issues, Loved Ones, Help Forums, Classifieds, Meeting Place, Events, Writer's Society, and some of us are even on the Staff.

We exist. We're here. We've been here, and we will continue to be here, so for those of you that think that pretending we don't exist or ignoring us will make us go away, too bad, this is our site too.

We're not all 'girls,' or 'gurls' and believe it or not we don't really like being excluded from the mixed sections when people start a post with 'Ladies...'

And we're getting really tired of repeating ourselves. :sigh:

In addition:

Not so much a rule but... something to keep in mind in this section and in general.

There's a recurring theme on this site of saying that FtMs have it easier. Well, no one has it any easier. We fight unacceptance, prejudice, and transphobia, just like any other transgendered people. We're not trying to say that we have it any harder than you do, but please stop telling us how much easier we've got it than MtFs because we don't.

1. There's a whole thing about it being more acceptable for a girl to wear pants than a boy to wear skirts. Yeah, girl's pants. Girls wearing boys clothes is much less acceptable, and a girl trying to be seen as a boy is very unacceptable.

2. Still, in society there's more visibility of women dressed as men such as in the butch lesbian community. This makes us often seen as butch lesbians (which we're not) and not men. Trying to get people to see us as guys and not just 'GGs in pants' is a struggle. Passing doesn't automatically come easy. Yes, some have a better time at it than others but that's true for everyone in the transgendered community.

3. Most FtMs are not CD but are more on the Transexual side of things. There are FtM CDers, but about 90% or more of us (on this site at least) are either TS, or male-identified. Meaning that most of us don't really consider ourselves to be women and don't want to be called one.

4. On this site in particular, it's really easy to figure out if someone's a FtM. Click on the avatar or username to view the user profile, look in the bottom right corner and under group memberships if it lists "Boys Clubhouse." That means FtM so don't call us "she." It takes a whole two seconds to check and if you're unsure about a member (such as one with under 10 posts who wouldn't be in any private area) you can just read the person's intro post. Because it's so easy to check that and many of us have something in our sigs or under our usernames that mentions that we're FtMs or boys or whatever, automatically assuming that everyone on this forum is a girl/gurl and calling us one is not okay. It's understandable if a new FtM member whose profile and posts doesn't say anything about gender gets called 'she' but for just about all of us, it's pretty clear after a quick check that we're not.

The only reason I'm bringing this up is because it happens over, and over, and over again that we get told we've got it sooo easy, and we get called 'girls' and 'ladies' and 'sisters' and we're just pretty tired of it by now. This is not meant to be some whining and complaining rant, but instead of having to say the same things over and over, I'm just going to start referring people to this post in the future when it comes up.
