Booo hoooo ooooo It's me again. Now I can't "Paste" text into replies!!! :( I can elsewhere, and I've updated Sun Java, and my key/mouse software.
Is there a fault on site ??

EllaineSorry Ellaine, but cut/copy/paste functions are local to your machine... My first WAG is that it is a issue with your browser's Java implementation.
Have you tried it with another browser?

OK, this was just now implemented: all right-click functions were disabled on the forum to help keep others from copying our photos and displaying them elsewhere, as we had that big problem here recently.
Elaine, there is nothing wrong with your computer, you just need to use keyboard commands: highlight your text, then use CTRL-C to copy and CTRL-V to paste.
Sorry for the inconvience, but due to the unauthorized theft of our photos, we are trying this work around for now....

All sounds sensible to me. I can live with it in a good cause ;)

I don't think disabling right-click will fix the problem. It's pretty easy to get around the script and download images (although I won't divulge the method in the interest of fairness). Unfortunately, as long as the images are viewable, I think there will be a way to steal them.
In the meantime it's going to annoy the daylights out of people like me, since I've gotten into the habit of using Right Click->Open Link In New Window in Firefox to view threads. Yes, I know you can use Shift-Click, but that requires me to move my other hand to the Shift key (not that I'm using my other hand for nefarious purposes  , but I'm accustomed to slouching around with just my right hand on the mouse... ).
Oh well, I guess I'll shut up now and try to learn some new habits. This was just my 0.02

Yes, please re-enable right-click. Otherwise, somebody will eventually post the several incredibly easy ways to get around that, and matters will be even worse.

The right clicking on this forum is NOT going to be re-enabled and if you value your membership here, you will do well NOT to write how to get round this option. This has been put into place to help stop members stealing pictures and posting them all over the internet for everyone else to see. If you don't know how to use the copy and paste shortcuts for text, I suggest you re-read Dana's post and learn to do it that way. You can always use the 'quote' button to quote a post.
This is non debatable, it is staying disabled and you have one member to thank for that.

Of course, there are ways around copying pix without right-clicking. But it puts one more level of difficulty in place so that it is not as easy to copy images here.
Here's an analogy: you lock your house, right? Why? Someone can always find a way in, right? And isn't it easier to not have to fool with a key to unlock the door?
Anyway, please bear with this for the time-being, we are trying to do something towards protecting members privacy here.
And Rachel Ann, did you know that your pic was one of the ones stolen and reposted elsewhere?

No right click any more! This is a nightmare for me. I live on the right-click button and have about 70735 windows open at any one time. If something attracts me, I right-click and open in new window then carry on with the page I was looking at until I've finished. It's once in a blue moon I have less than about 12 windows open once I've been online for about 5 minutes.
If my brother was here, however, he would love it because he will only ever run 1 application in 1 window at a time - he's paranoid that the system can't cope. I find that very amusing when I'm using his PC because his boy can't get his head round me opening so many windows :) .
Would it be possible to re-enable just the 'open in new window' function on the right click?

AnneYou can still do that without the right click function, simply hold down the 'shift' key, then click the link, that will open the link in a new browser ;)

xxxOK.....
To open a link in a new browser window:
Microsoft Internet Explorer: CTRL-left click OR SHIFT-left click
Netscape: CTRL-left click only
Firefox: CTRL-left click opens link in new browser tab, SHIFT-left click in a new window
The above works on my computer, a US machine using XP Home.

Ah, I just refound the insert link icon in the message reply box. I knew it was there but never used it as right click copy and paste was easier to do.
Well that solves my problem with adding links.
If only my brain would stop being blond. LOL

Right-click save-as is disabled .. but now, so is the button for my mouse-wheel for a speed-scroll. :( It doesn't really bother me that it's gone, but sometimes I forget .. and when I want to quickly scroll up to the top of the page, I tap my mouse wheel and I get that pop-up message. Oh well.

I am not sure what pics are you refering to if you means the ones in profiles? you can still right click and save image as, also this still works in a forum where there are pictures. I use Firefox, windows xp pro, Logitech MX-1000 laser wireless mouse. post a link to the place where its disabled on these forums so I know its not just me that can save a pic. I dont take pics without asking anyway but if I can right click and a menu pops up and I can save image as then a few others can.

Madison, if you see the 'complaints' thread in this section, you will now know why you can right click. I removed the script although I had a totally re-written one that worked for all browsers ;)

Not all browsers, it had no effect on Dillo. :-) Probably had no effect on Links-graphic either.

I'm talking about the most browsers used which I can see from the 'whos online' list. The majority are IE, firefox/mozilla and netscape. Those you have said, I've never heard of ;)
And I've just split this thread up as it should have really been a thread of its own ;)
And as all this is now done, I'm closing the thread.
