It seems like many of use here who ask for help are asking the same questions: "where can I get...?" or "where is a cd friendly...?"
Would it be possible to compile a list and put in a links section for this group?

Hi Amanda,

Sounds sensible but it may get too big

This is actually being currently discussed among the mods, with the thoughts of it either merging with the Trans-Market section or being a separate section on its own.

More feedback in this thread would be helpful to see what all your thoughts are.

How about a list of shops that are cd friendly in the UK and one for the US with the town thay are in

I like this idea myself.
It may be too complicated, but IF this is done can it be made into sections? Like "Mid West, South East, North East, .... etc." Or even major metro areas like New York, Boston, Huston....
Then we wouldn't have to read through things not releivent to our area, exept online shopping and information of course.

I agree that a links section would probably grow so large as to be useless unless it were somehow broken down by location. Such a breakdown, however, would increase the difficulty of moderating the whole to prevent spam and other undesireable links.

One solution to any anticipated moderating problems might be to somehow set it up so that no link would actually post until reviewed by a moderator.

I think a good start would just be links for internet sites.

I think a separate section for links would be good, but definitely thought would be needed how to organize it so it would be usable.

We have members from around the world, so having regional categories (North America, Euorope, etc.) makes sense. Other categories which would make sense are web shopping sites (general and specialty), etc. The thing is to come up with a grouping of categories (and subcategories) that makes sense for member use.

Once the categories are decided on by website admins/mods, each category/subcategory could be a locked sticky maintained by a moderator.

There should be at least one unlocked thread in the section for member suggestions for additions to the categories.

If categories are carefully chosen, it could be a very useful resource for members.

These are my thoughts.

It would be nice to have a resource section.

I think this is a good idea if it can be done without adding to much the all the other work our mods and admins have to do.

We don't really want to get into creating numerous sections, one for each region, country, or city. We already have more forums than are necessary.

We could simply have different threads: if you have a site for US members, then you would add it to an existing US thread. If you have a retail establishment in London, then you would add it to a London or England thread.

Simple, no?

In my reply #9, what I had in mind was a single section and each category to be a thread with an appropriate title (such as USA Northeast brick and mortar shops).

The rest was an idea for a grand plan that was at least partly brought on by looking at a database design book while wearing a blonde wig :) .

Properly named threads should work OK.
