View Full Version : Important rule change for both Photo Galleries

Forum Admin

Beginning immediately, in an effort to keep the two photo galleries open to all members, and to keep the main page of each section from being dominated by a handful of the more prodigious thread creators, all photos created by a single member in a one week period should be added to a single thread. This rule applies only to the photo forums and moderators are to combine threads when members fail to do so themselves.

We are sorry it has come to this, but it is unfair that some member's photos are quickly buried and not viewed because a few members create new threads almost daily, or reviving several old threads with pointless replies.

Anyone who repeatedly breaks this rule will be barred from posting in the photo forums for a minimum of one week. This applies to all members, including staff, beginning now.

Thank you.

I looked back at my post history....I average two threads a week so I'm an offender then! ...but not perhaps the worst! But I do confess that I am a photo attention *****...so sue me!

I enjoy the heck out of this forum. it is one of the first places I go everytime that I log on the computer. And whoever runs it and provides this great place has the right to make rules and changes to rules.

I would just question the need to embarrash girls with remarks like "reviving several old threads with pointless replies" Personally I have been careful on my threads to thank girls for nice compliments...but I also felt tore at just appearing to bump my own threads. So I just say thanks a couple of times to nice comments on my pic threads, but its a dicey/judgement call thing.

Oh by the way I am looking at the first page of the pictures forum and I only count one girl with two threads, The lingerie pic forum hardly moves at all with just a few posts per day so there was not big crisis there anyway that is referred to with this nice language "being dominated by a handful of the more prodigious thread creators"

Deidras conclusion...someone had an axe to grind and it resulted in a very successful sub-forum being tampered with. There are some girls by the way that do post a lot of threads...but I like looking at their pictures and reading their adventures. Some girls do more stuff and are interesting so its no problem to me!

Oh well...I'll still be logging, looking at threads and posting on here unless I get booted! :D

Yeah, what Deidra said. :iagree:

I dont post many pics

I can understand why some pics get swamped before they get a chance to be seen.

I can see one problem this coud mean pics being posted in totally unrelated threads.

The only way I can see to help those who post a lot is to create a thread of there pic and to link them to a particular thread
This of course may not be the best solution.

Any thoughts on this idea

Well when I dress I like to get out the camera and snap a few shots and share them with the girls, and some times thats twice a week, and thats to much, well gosh im sorry for being one of those girls who happens to be excited when she dresses and buys some thing new.

Speacking for some of the girls here, a lot of us are still hiding our female side from the world, and some of us are trying to excape, but in the mean time when we dress and post our pictures it almost feels like we are free, now your taking our freedom away, please change this rule.

As I read this instruction, in effect it says, "post as many pics as often as you like, but in any one-week period, when you go to post more, don't start a new thread, put them in your most recent thread." I don't think anyone who's replied finds that way of reading the rule to be a problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong. That's the way I see it also Julie - no one (the way I read it) is saying to not post your pix. Post 100 new pix per day, every day, just put them in the last thread you started?

A possible solution would be to start a new thread entitled "xxxx photos" (xxxx=member's name) and you would just add your daily new pix to that perhaps? Just throwing out a possible solution.....

Oh I know whats being said here, to many post are being started here, but if a girl goes out and buys a new red dress "God I love red dresses" she wants to start a thread that says "I got a new red dress" and shes looking for replys, but in stead you add it to a thread with your name thats getting long, "Some of us like the camera" and you may not get the replys your looking for.

Oh well after a while we won't even know what the old rules were but I needed to say piece here, and we do need to give the newer girl a chance to shine also.

I agree to promote the newer girls, and giving the more "absent" ones a better chance to expose themselves. Personally, I like the new rule. I'm sure that the more active & experienced ones will find a way (anyway) to attract attention.

Mmmmmmmm.....Is that new rule for real? I've just realized that today is April Fool's day.

I thought it seemed a logical way to go. I have only the one picture thread as I did not want to flood the forum and when someone`s thread pops back up near the top of the page, I imediately go to the last page of their thread to see whats new.
I also liked the idea that anyone could, if they wanted, go back easily and have another look at the very first pics I posted as they are not lost in the past.

Just my 0.02 worth,

Alison

Just my 0.02 worth,

Alison:iagree: Speaking as a 'one' of the culprits of unintentionally 'flooding' the forum recently ..i'd like to say my intension was not to deprive anyone else from getting onto 'page one' as it's been strangely described..but a simple case of being 'overenthusiastic' which i apologize for.....i joined this site recently to hopefully make friends with people like myself.[which i have] ..and not to promote myself in some strange 'Narcissistic' way ..untill 3 months ago i did'nt show anyone any photo's of myself and kept them securely under lock and key at all costs !... Showing pic's on this site is ...and i know this applies to the majority of girls here ....the only way to 'come out' safely and without fear of retribution of any kind [in theory] ...I checked out some other sites ..and it seems to me a 'Members Gallery' seem's to work well...a similar idea to the 'who we are' thread where members can just tack on pic's at will and those who are interested can check it out periodically ....with the option of posting thread's when applicable ...in that way those of us who happen to be 'more prolific' than other's can do so without fear of retribution in the future. Louise.

As moderator to this area I did not liketo see sucha rule put in ..I myself like posting pics and must admit its a tiny bit frustrating ..however (and its just not Lulu ) the main problem was the recurring day by day posts by some of us that would push other threads down I was not particulary concerned about the posting of new threads within in 24 hrs of each other I was concerned that some us would jump on the thanking of posts right off the start ....then never allow the the thread to drop a little ..I felt there was no need too thank members individually thus making the thread be bumped back up ..I myself in most cases unless a question was asked would allow my post at least 10 replies or so before I would respond That was my issue ..when I seen a thread that had run its course and was near the bottom or on page 2 and the member simply went thanks and it bumped new threads down I thought it was lame ..however if there was just cause and a answer worth the bumping of the thread it was cool ....that was my issue and I even spent time pm ing some members to plzz be aware of this ..however I got no replies and had to make that sticky in which I was poked at about ...so thus this new rule was put in effect I tried I was patient ,,,no respect was given to my trying to deal with this privately ...kinda makes me feel like Why should I care if OUR forum remains a fresh on page 1 with new pics and adventures coming in soo here we are now with this rule ..

Don't be blamming this on your self girl friend OK, some of us girls that arn't shy of the camera will be all right, can't believe people didn't return PM's, it's not just a bitch thing but you get to know people by replying back and then become good friends, oh well.

Hello all...

I think I have a solution, if anyone is interested in following suit - here it is...

Members who would like to post an ongoing "photo album" could do the following:

1. Create a thread, entitle it "Sherlyn's Photos" for example.
2. Create another thread immediately after called "Sherlyn's photo comments"
3. Create a link from the Pictures Thread to the Comments Thread and, indicate to click that link if you would like to leave a comment.

If possible, it would work better if you can lock a thread so that only the user who started it can post in it. This way, people who don't know better won't go posting comments in the picture threads.

-----

What will all this accomplish? Well, this way it keeps the comments and the pictures separate. I personally like to go and look at the pictures, and if it's a thread that's been around a while, there might be photos to start, 5000 comments, and then maybe another photo buried on page 8. Follow me? This way, it's all photos, or all comments. Then each member would only have 2 threads in the photo section. I think this could work. Hope that wasn't too complicated. :D

Comments? Complaints?

but then you have too keep posting in your locked thread to get comments on your new pics I could see page 1 becoming a train wreck of picture and comment threads

I think this could be a good idea, often I miss posts because they end up pages back.

I don't get why some people seem to take this as a personal criticism, its just an FYI about a new rule being tried. Certainly I can think of at least one Admin that would fall under the heading "prodigious thread creators", no names of course. :D

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you don't have to hit me over the head -- the rule applies to me also. It's a shame -- I was planning a "Monday with Sharon" thread, a "Tuesday with Sharon" thread, a -- well, you get it.

Oh wait! I can just combine them into one thread and still share as many photos of myself that I would have anyway.

Nevermind. :)

On reflection i think this 'New Rulling' will have the ultimate effect of slowing down the 'tick over rate' to a stroll rather than a sprint ....which will [again in theory] raise the quality and relevance of each person's contribution ....i for one will in future be much more 'selective' with which pix i post and when i post them ........... [that's if i ever get inspired enough to actually take any ! ] ....... incidentally looking at the number of members this site has it's seems that only a handful of us are actually posting pix for the majority of the girl's to 'browse' threw ........ what's all that about ............ :p

I'd say: Let's give it a try for a few weeks before booting the idea.
Is that reasonable?

Absolutely right Lulu. Part of this wonderful site is for girls to express themselves and in pictures. why not have a gallery with each members pics, and a short area to post comments.

Since Ihave not yet tamed my digicam, I have not sinned. I do appreciate the sadness of getting bumped down to page three. Iwouldhate that on my best/first outing.
To each their own, but how about an open first disply before reverting to an individual thread.
Or even sticking in a ref to the personal thread. A ref that would tell the world that there was something new on "my" picture thread.
Thinking about it , that is basically what this ruling is trying to do, but I would prefer the double entry.

I for one would like to keep it that way.

You can do it yourself. Just edit the header of the first post: e.g. "someheader Update 04/07/06"
