help viewing pictures in messages?

Hi,

I hope someone is able to assist with my problem. If a message has a file attachment (as attached image) it displays perfectly. However if the message includes a thumbnail... no pic is displayed?

If anyone can provide the answer i'd be very grateful.

When you say "message" - are you talking emails, PMs, IMs, etc?

I also use Firefox, and do not have a problem seeing all images (except an occassional profile pic that is not in a jpg format).

Are these images you have trouble with attached via the forum, or via hosted on an image storage site? If the photos are attached via this forum, then there will be a small text above the pix that say "Attached Images"

But if the small text say "Attached Thumbnails" it just displays an empty line box that usually surrounds the picture. Nothing happens if i click in the box either?

Though i'd check using my Wife's PC earlier, and she also has no problem displaying either type of attachment?

Same problem, exactly, except about half the time, the "attached thumbnails" shows a dash for each picture, and clicking on these brings up the picture, but the other half time, no ash, no picture, nothing. Others see these images because they post comments about them, for me, sometimes I see, sometimes I don't. If it says, "attached images" above the box, no problem.

OK - let's try an experiment - can you see this test image (should be thumbnailed)? Please excuse the image, done quickly....

Edit: I just tried this in Firefox, IE and Netscape and I could see both the thumbnailed image and the enlarged image when I click on it....

I did a quick check in Explorer and only this time i see the same as Breanne.... The "attached thumbnails" shows a dash for each picture, and clicking on these brings up the picture.

I've just logged out of the site and if i check your thumbnail now that i'm logged out, i can see it and the name/size, clicking on it brings up your test2 picture. Now that i'm logged back it's disappeared again....wierd!

I wish you were on Yahoo Mesenger so we could take care of this real time. OK, try this (although I am almost sure it isn't the problem):

1) go to your user CP
2) click on Edit Options
3) go down to Thread Display Options
4) make sure Show Images box is checked

Did did as you suggested and the option to show images was checked. I thought i would 'un-check' it and see what happens. Now every picture (even the ones that displayed OK before) shows as a thumbnail/link and if i click on it opens up :)

I wonder if the same solution will help Breanne also?

Well, that is a temporary fix, but still I want to get this solved. I am thinking now that it could possibly be a Firefox issue - do you have the current version? Mine shows all the images just fine....

No, doesn't help. I tried it and then I finally can see the image link, when I click on it it throws me to a vBulletin message saying that I need to log in, I log in again and get the same results over and over again....a vicious circle!

Seems to be working fine today, although I again un-checked the "show images" in the edit options. Seems strange, but it works. Thanks.
