I was curious about HRT. When prescribed by a doctor, are the hormones taken every day, or on a cycle as in a female's cycle, i.e. 28 days on and 7 days off.?

L.A.the short answer is taken every day i know someone who has to take twice a day

Dear Linda,

I take my hormones under the care of an edocrinologist.

I take once daily doses of estradiol and spironolactone.

I have heard of people taking them on a monthly cycle. My endo says that taking them on a cyclical basis is silly (his word) as we don't have to mimic the menstrual cycle because we don't menstruate. That makes sense to me.
