being new to the forum and kind of a loner how do you take pictures of your self and how do you post them

There is a technical post as the top thread to this forum. You have to have the right size picture. It can't be too big. Then go to Manage Attachments at the bottom of the post to add it from your computer.

A decent digital camera with 10 second timer. Make sure the lighting is good to avoid blurred photos. Adobe photoshop or similar for managing your photos. Download Jpegsizer software or similar from the internet (its inexpensive). This will size your photos to the acceptable size for posting here and elsewhere.

Take lots of photos and select the ones you like best.

I'm a total technical dork its easy.

Sony cybershot and a minitripod....smallish and fits in my purse for those action shots in the ladies room....lol 10 sec times....stored in memory then download them to my laptop via usb cable, then resize tem with Xnview free from www.xnview.com ....then upload....

Avoid straight-on-with-flash shots. Even supermodels don't look good with that type of shot. Unfortunately, that's by far the most common shot. The best angle is from above looking down, or from below looking up. Turn the flash off, and use a very well lit room. See my Dana portfolio for examples:

I upload the photos to www.photobucket.com, and then paste the link to the picture in posts on this site. If you can't figure out the technical aspects of that task, then its time to enroll in an Internet class at your local junior college!

I just read the replies to your question and although they are very helpful they are a bit technical if you are new to all this. So maybe this will help.

Basically, in order to take a photo that you can download to the internet, you need it to be in digital form. So, for simplicity, you take the photo with a digital camera. (You can scan an ordinary photo if that is what you have.)

You then need to get the photo out of the camera.
So you download it to your computer using whatever software comes with the camera for downloadoing the photos from the camera to your computer.


The photo is now stored on your computer but it is whatever size it was taken. It maybe be FAR too big to post on this forum. So you then crop or and make it smaller using the software that comes with the camera for photo editing.

If you get that far, just ask again and we'll get your photo up there.

Like susie i'm new to this tech stuff.Is it possible to upload a picture without putting it in a file or folder because i've heard that even if you delete a file it never really goes away if someone knows how they can bring it back. i know that is a stupid guestion to you computer savy girls but what can i say i don't want my daughter finding any thing on my pc because she has to bail me out when i get to deep in this monster thanks

It is very easy,even though it took me two weeks to figure it out.:bonk: Go to user cp and edit profiles. That is if you have pictures on your digital camera.
