Keyplayer74
12-29-2006, 03:21 PM
Hey eveyone..
I don't know if you all realized this - but our avatars are available for anyone to see - even non-members. I just logged off of here a little while and did a google search for my name (keyplayer74) and up comes the result - a post by me from crossdressers.com. I clicked it and saw my post, complete with avatar, even though I was not logged into the site.
I just thought you all should be aware that your pic could come up from an accidental google search - not neccesarily from people who have joined this site.
Moderators - if it's possible to fix this I would feel better about putting my face as an avatar. (although I probably still won't. :p )

Yup, the avatar is public. I don't think it can be hidden.
Your profile pic isn't public though.

Hi,
Though I knew early on that non-members had some access to this website and material on it, I can appreciate your concern.

I kind of guessed that when I first found this site as I could see the avatars in everyone's replies. While the really shy amoung us may not ever show their face, I like mine posted and even change it once in a while. Pics of me are posted in other places here as well as a few other sites.
Is that called sneaking out of the closet? Hoping that someone closer finds us and sees us?
hehe

Yep and you can tell that I am "bashful" right? There's a method to my madness though. They'll have to go nuts keeping up with my ever changing avatar to figure me out. Hell, I haven't even done that yet.:heehee: Ericka

ALL forums are not 100% closed to the public!, i would have thought commonsense would tell you this.......dont let it bother you, its not like someone will associate you with the word keyplayer.....and if you think they would then maybe you should change your username to something less obvious that no one would get if you are really that worried, but truthfully i really wouldnt worry yourself over it

If truly there is nothing wrong with what we do than why hide it? the internet is wide open and if you post pictures than you have increased the chances you'll be discovered. This little risk is I'm willing to take, some times I get tired of hiding. Fact is there are many numbers of ways you can be outed that have a higher probabilty! Ex girl friends, angry spouses, confidants of any stripe. the alternative is to shut the closet door tightly and tell no one about yourself.

I once worried about all this kind of stuff.....then I thought " My kid would have to find this website, then find a thread I posted to, then guess one of the posts was mine, then......
Then I've had 2 people I know well see my avatars (my choice, and not on here) and say OMGosh...is that you????? Can't be !!!!
I rest my case.
Oh yeah....when you guys at area 51 come to arrest me can you bring some deodorant??? I'm fresh out.

I keep changing my picture because I am always dissatisfied with the way I look so I would imagine anyone who looks at it will also be dissatified enough not to look twice. If they do, so what! I can look the way I want. If they don't like it, they don't have to look.:tongueout

I look so drastically different from my avatar I had no qualms about showing it. I dont care WHO sees it as I feel I am totally unrecognizable.
Besides, I am proud of my look (even though I am a "private" Cder)

I am very cautious, thus no photos here or on any other website. There simply is no way to be half-way out there on the Internet. I know I can be recognized from my femme self. I've been to places dressed as a woman, and later recognized when I return not dressed as a woman. Unfortunately, I'm not as lucky as Marina.
Warm regards,
Christina Nicole

Hey,
It's why I never post pix of my face, this exact fear. Sedona isn't any name that anybody knows me by except the ladies here, but a girl can never be too careful.

This whole Male to Female is open to the public so any one who finds this forum can read it The rest is members only.I found it by accident and read the forum quite a while before i joined and still check new post without logging in unless i want to post or go to other areas sometimes.
Dragster
12-29-2006, 08:54 PM
I thought that with a "handle" like DRAGSTER, I'd be completely anonymous, and I was. But then I added "Crossdresser" to the search, and up I came, the very first item out of 1800, with a couple of posts I made over 18 months ago! It'll make me think twice before I take a real girl's name, and post a face picture......when and if I ever get my wife to accept this side of me!

Like some of you I have no problem of who sees my picture. I have several posted on the "Calgary Girlfriends Site" which is more local. I have had a few curious comments that could be related to these people seeing my postled pictures or maybe I just read it wrong. One of the reasons I helped out at the information table for "Calgary girls" was to let closeted dressers know if a 60+ guy could maybe they should. I love posing and taking pictures when dressed someone should see them other than me. Billie

The only alternative is to use a file type that google would not index. Though, of course the forum would have to accept that files type if you were to upload it. On the other hand, you could always host it yourself and in that case use a *swf (flash file) as you image.
This would serve two purposes, one it's prevents most people obtaining it via right click (although nothing stops a screen capture) and it would stop google or any other image SE indexing and caching it.
Some food for thought. If the thought of posting a pic worries you, then you do realise that whatever you post is indexed too. I'm sure if you've been posting for a while it wouldn't be that hard to figure out who you were if someone really wanted to.

I go through life with several days of beard and hair growth (I buzz the hair and beard twice a week) and NO LIPSTICK.
I look too different for anyone except those who already know to recognize me.
Actually, when I am threatened with exposure for anything, I just cant get up enough fear to give a damn. I start to be afraid and then I get indignant and pissed off that I have to change how I live to hide something. I just can't live like that. Even if I tried to walk on eggshells, I'd just leave behind a trail of shards and dust.
Smart, Stupid, Whatever, that is how I am.
Per Google
Roberta 23,700,000 hits (0 for me)
Fermina 259,000 hits (0 for me)
Roberta Fermina 1 hits (and it ain't me)
Not much risk there!

Ahhhhh sweet anonymity. Googled Kimberley and after 100 pages of everything from diamond mines and cities to rock and porn stars, I was still under the radar. How perfect is that?
I think I shall add demented CD,TG,TS,gender queer to the parameters. I'll probably come up as an inmate in some Siberian prison convicted of impersonating a male. :D

Kimberley.
ps. Just thought I would pop in when I had the chance. Be back soon I hope. Another week or so if all goes well.

Raychel

My search works the same as Dragsters. Search for Raychel and get 84,200 results. Search for "Raychel Crossdressr" and this site shows up at the top of the list. So I guess if someone knows my name and also searches for crossdresser then I will be found. But if that is what they are doing, then they know anyway.
So you have found me.
