So I have two problems right now. I'll give you some background on both, I don't know what to do. :\ So I'm looking for some insight on what to do, I hope you gals/guys can help some.

First off is school, Collage started clear back on 20th of August..... I have not been there yet. first 2 days I missed do to work (coming back from a run to Arizona, school is here in WV.) the next 2 weeks FA bullshit around and I had no car to get to class. now I have the money I bought the first $500 car I can ( a jeep Cherokee ) I dumped more than $1700 (including buy cost) in the damn thing and it still does not run right. so here I am after paying some bills and paying back the bank for all the over drafts cause by the fa money coming in late I have only $1050 for the next 4 months and my bills come to around $800 a month! so what do I do, Drop this term and work full time to make the money to live? I mean I don't like this school anyway it was just convenient (they will take anyone with a act scored of 14!! mine was 22 btw) but because of my ld and Well corrupted LD departments in my public school, there are problems with my perm record. Just to get a idea (not to toot my own horn) My IQ is tested at 148 But my estimated IQ is closer to 178 due to my Learning disability... Which if it was caught in time could of been "fixed" but the didn't and now it's permanent. my 2 ld are (for the ones that care) Developmental Expressive Language Disorder and Developmental Writing Disorder anyhow, not to put this lightly but I was doing algebra by 3rd grade and calc by 7th. I tested in to collage lvl ( year 2) in math.scince, history, and my reading ability is there too, to bad my Writing, spelling and speaking skills are below 10th grade :(. anyway because of this little problem. I went to a "easy" and cheap collage (they think there a Uni but shit I barely count it as most of WV as a collage hehe) to get the basics need then I was going to jump to a better school. wow that's a lot of typing, the other part of this problem is that I plan on transition, and I don't think the hillbilly GED crowd is a good one to do that (btw 79% of this collage is people how got ged and scored between 14 and 16 on the ACT!). (note this not a downer for people how got there geds) Other other thing is I don't know WHY I'm in school, beyond getting my learn on. I don't know, I exel at computer ( been building programing PC's since 1989 (not a typo yes since I was 6ish!). I wanted to go in to business but it does not interest me, Computer bore me now and rather work on them for fun instead of a job. Now I am thinking photo Jern or something the like, I love to travel and learn new things.

My second problem is work. As much as I love it, all the traveling and the unique people I get to see. I have a good background in computers over 16+ years programing and building them, even owned my own PC business for 7 years. but now I escort oversized loads (don't trust people with your money) I've owned for, 2 years, an auto shop with my dad before the shop we ran it in got rented out from us, and also we owned for 3 years, a shuttle service before my dad shut it down. so I have a good amount of management skill, plus the computer skills. the problem come in from, the enverment that I work in, My boss higher the bottom of the barrel types (some time some that should be 6 feet under that ) most are ether high school drop outs or retired folk. and at $0.25/mile you don't get to meany good employees. I myself am working here because I needed a job and the owner is one of my father's good friends. Also my boss is a Old perv Big perv but a brilliant one hehe. so I dout transitioning here does not seem good , I mean he's a good guy and nice,l but he emits that he's to old to change lol. So Right now I'm at a cross roads so to speak, I have enough money in the bank right now to get another job and be save with money un tell the first paycheck, but what kind of job can I find for a tg in a town with less than 30K people in hillbilly ville. most jobs in the area are food services, mines, or Tel marketing Blah! I can do help desk (did it for the government and for BoA) but it's hard to find a job in that. What should I do? I don't know. maybe some home base stuff for a comp out of pa might work but where? I'm clueless on what to do.

So that's where I am, I have my first phyc apt. on the 6th, O and my best friend called today!!! made my day sooo much I chatted his ear off lol. he even said "damn woman shhh let me talk" in a joking way. :) that's about it hope I post this in the right part of the board *^_^*

wow, 5hrs to type this, and only one pm hehe. don't know what to do lolSome advice on how to ask for advice: KISS. (Keep it simple stupid.) LOL. I am willing to wager most people on the board saw your long post, and decided they couldnt be bothered reading it. Those that did, saw it didnt relate to the main interest of the board, (CDing) and tuned out after a few lines.
So to follow my own advice, keep your request short, to the point and appropiate to the members.

I looks to me like the plan to go to school this semester has pretty much crashed. I would start all over again the next semester if that is what you really want to do. If you find a really good line of work for yourself, that would tell you what to go after in college, but I would concentrate on the work, perhaps even moving to some place with greener pastures and higher wages. Lots of people have succeeded in the workforce without graduating from college (think: Bill Gates, the Microsoft emperor).

I don't believe that any learning disabilities are permanent, and you might could benefit from some special tutoring in writing, even at your advanced age. That is a pretty fundamental skill in lots of fields of employment, and an inability in it can hold you back in many ways. (For starters, your stuff gets easier to read when you divide it into smaller paragraphs.) If it took you five hours, you do indeed have a problem, but not one that is insurmountable.

thanks for the replies from the both of you.

it took me 5hrs to write because I wanted it to be readable *^_^*.

As for special tutoring, well I've been there done that, the problem is not in the learning part but the nero pathways that control speech and other out put system, I guess it the best way to say it, all the "special tutoring" that's out there make you relearn how to read and write and talk in english... wich does not help, 15 years of that and not one ounce better. wish I could fix it but can't and I cope rather well, just take me 2 or 20 more words to get what I want out ;P

anyway, I think I will withdraw from this term tommorow, then start looking for a better job that will allow me to be well me *^_^*

thanks

If you are trying to decide on a career check out the book "What Color Is Your Parachute?' it has some good advice.
More important, quit thinking of yourself as a victim. All of us face some kind of adversity in our lives, our success and happiness are determined by how we handle and react to life's problems. Pull up your panties and get on with life!

I would say that your first semester is shot...So I'd call time out, take a delay of game and punt, then get out of West Virginia...

I am a proud resident of WV and there many fine colleges and universities...

I would suggest some serious evaluation of your study habits and perhaps take a money management class...

...and while Wv may not be the most TG friendly place, I'm sure that if you live near a large city, IE Charleston, Huntington, Morgantown, you may very well find support groups...

Oh and to re-enforce an eariler post...and as my gunnery sgt use to say...

K.I.S.S. { keep it simple stupid } !
