I am very much in the closet and as a consequence cannot dress much. This can get frustrating as there are times when the need to express my feminine side becomes quite strong. Perhaps surprisingly I have found a very simple outlet in attending a salon to have my hair cut and having occasional massages.
The salon is unisex, so for someone terrified at being "outed" there are no problems (indeed it was my wife who first suggested I have a "proper" haircut from a stylist). However there is no question that the salon has a very feminine ambience and it is very easy to lose yourself in a daydream that you are just one of the girls being pampered! As someone who previously had only gone to traditional men's barbers, I cannot tell you how luxurious it felt having my hair shampooed and scalp massaged by the (female) stylist.
As for the shoulder and back massage, it ticks all the right boxes for me, and I suspect would do so for many CDs. In the warmth of the treatment room you are surrounded by all the smells, lotions and tools of the beauticians. I think that many CDs fantasise about female domination in its various forms. Although the massage itself is completely non-sexual, one can experience a mild sensation of being dominated when lying on the treatment couch with an attractive therapist in charge. The variety of sensations experienced in this situation including a wonderful feeling of warmth & protection (as the therapist wraps the towel around your body), relaxation, the feeling that one is being feminized, and sometimes a brief frisson as the therapist moves the towel and underpants down a little to reach your upper gluteal (buttock) muscles (one of my more sensitive areas).
Sorry, this is not meant to be pornographic. Rather for me, the sensations I can experience in the spa in several ways replicate many of the feelings that I hope to experience when cross-dressed.
