Back in 97, I dressed up fully, dress, makeup, hair etc... the whole 9 yards and went with my 2nd wife to the local mall. It was an incredibly liberating experience for me as people thought we were sisters and I moved about with ease and no problems with anyone. Plus we bought lots of clothes and additional makeup :)
*hugs*

My first time out as Fran: A seven-block walk along Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington.
-
It'll be a year in just over a week. Went to the Ulta about 3 miles away and had a make-up lesson.
-
Other than every Halloween when I was a kid, my "first" solo outing to a public place was to the Copa in Fort Lauderdale which was mentioned by another post in this thread.
-
First time for me was walking through a casino in Vegas. I didn't talk to anyone, I only walked through, but it was pretty damn exhilarating. After that, I went and pumped gas en femme. It remains a very fond memory and something I hope to do again someday.
-
first time in public I went food shopping with my SO, who also does my make-up.
-
Well my first time was different. I went to a drive-in, got called ma'am and felt great, I went out to the snack bar, ordered some nibblies and scooted back to the car none the worse. I felt so good after it was all over....it was a very empowering evening.

I think the very first time was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away (called Columbus OH) when I went for a long bike ride n the neighborhood. Maybe the first "real" time was when I was visiting the University of Georgia 15 years ago and stayed at the Uni Center. I dressed whenever I wasn't doing business, and remember going to the continental breakfast and this handsome southern gentleman held the door for me ... I think I blushed!

Halloween 1975, I was Belinda the good witch from Wizard of Oz and my wife (gf at the time) was a guy. Go figure!! Wish I had a pic from it...loved that gown :)
-
A couple of years ago needed to toilet break whilst driving home dressed. No place to change ! Ended up in a McDonalds - loved it!
-
First time fully dressed was to an LGBT meeting. Even still, I was scared half to death.
First time in public was at a club downtown (to meet another gurl) nestled among a bunch of restaurants and other clubs - scared to death again.
Second time in public - same club, still scared to death.
-
For me it was a club in san francisco. They had a TG night and the place is very TG friendly to begin with. Amazingly, i felt very excited and not paranoid at all. Had a very very good time....gives me a rush to think back to that time....

My first outing was at a gay bar where a crossdressing support org. held their meeting...

My first outing was at the Gate way mall in Salt Lake City, They I went to a Tri ess meeting

The Holiday Inn in my hometown. Manager made me and kept a close eye on me........it was way back in the day. Haven't a clue why I chose it.
-
For me it was back in 1971, a couple of my GG friends and I went shopping at Ala Moana shopping mall in Honolulu
-
I rented a wench costume at the Maryland Renaissance Festival and spent the whole day en femme iaround thousands of people.
-
The first place was to the movies and then dinner and it was with my girlfriends and it was a blast and gave me the confidence to do it again.
-
The first time I can remember was when I was a youngster and was going away for a weekend with my grandparents and mother. One suitcase did not make it to the car, and it was mostly my clothes and pajamas. So, hahaha....... let's put little Johnny in a nightgown. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Well since the lesbian bar I went to with my GG friend Lauren doesn't count, probably the Blue Danube, a restaurant in Columbus we stopped at on the way home from the bar. The fun thing was that we'd gone there before getting ready to go out as well, so I was there that night with Lauren in boy mode and then girl mode, and had the same server. The first place I went where being out en femme and out of the comfort zone was the plan was to a mall also in Columbus, with a different GG friend.

For me after years and years of late night walks and abandoned parking lots, the very first time really out in public in a crowded bright space was at the mall.
-
It was July 2005 on a busy Saturday afternoon. First stop was an appointment at a mainstream wig store, then afterward, I wore my new purchase to go shopping at a big shopping mall nearby. Very scary for me! My wife was with me and she posted about it (with pics) at the time.

I quit wearing makeup 18 years ago after a serious car accident, but still wear mascara, never try to emmulate women, mainly dress in the androgynous look, womens jeans, low rise boot cut and skinny jeans, heels with the boot cut,and ballet flats with the skinny jeans, tunic tops, and womens polo shirts and big shirts.
I go pretty much any where dressed like that, and yes I do get rude comments, but just consider the source.

First outing was with a girlfirend. I pestered her to take me out and we went to a place called the fabric factory in NYC. I was so nervous my palms were sweating. We set it up that my name would be Jack so nobody would know my real name (innocent foolishness). It was a gay bar but she was/is really beautiful and she attracted a lot of attention. The bartender was a large flaymboyant yet masculine black man and he asked me my name. When I told him it was Jack he said no no no, it must be Jaqueliiiine now come on practice it...say it. We ended up having a great time but she said that was the last time for that stuff.
I still clearly remember the sound of my high heels hitting the pavement for the first time on that Ney York city street...Wow!
