Wet AMD
Hi all It's been a while since I've posted.
Anyway, I had some Glenda time a few months back. I had a new skirt and top I wanted to wear. I got dressed and started to put on my makeup. Everything was going well until I put on my eye makeup. The right eye went fine but I couldn't get my left eye right. I just thought at I was nearsighted in my right eye and couldn't see. A few weeks later I was driving, and some got in my left eye. I wiped my eye to get the dirt out and I couldn't see the road with my right eye. Went to see my eye doctor and he send me to a retina center.
I found out that have wet age-related macular degeneration or AMD. I get shots in my eye to try to stop it getting worse.
On when I dress I try to do my left eye first and match my right to it. Sometimes I have start over eyeliner is the hardest. I won't go out if I can't get it right.

That sucks, but at least wet-AMD responds to treatment options better than the dry version. I leave it to the medical professionals to explain the difference. I am curious, tho. Are you diabetic?

Good luck Glenda, I am sending you good vibes

Yes definitely good luck Glenda I hope everything works out okay. I had problems with my eyes about 4 years ago myself. I had burning visiting a friends house about 15 miles from home. Anyway after it started I couldn?t stop tearing up couldn?t see hardly anything. I drove home anyway and went to see my internal doctor and they got mad at me for driving one mile to their office. They called an ambulance made me go to hospital and they in turn did testing then took me across from the hospital and into an eye doctor. Turns out I had cataracts in both eyes. They took a little over a month but replaced both my lenses. I was near sighted then after the new lenses I was far sighted 20/20 now and no glasses to drive anymore but can?t see crap up close without readers. It?s so hard to do my eyes too now I really feel for you. Anyway good luck with yours.

Unfortunately I quickly realized where this was going. ( First thought was a leaking liquid CPU cooler.) Wish that was the case.my mom has this one of them probably the bad 1.
It's not good sorry you're dealing with it.

My father had AMD - hoping yours responds well to the shots

Kim, I obviously cannot speak for Glenda, but Wet AMD is not necessarily caused by diabetes. I've also been seeing a retina specialist getting eye shots over the past year for macular edemas caused by diabetic retinopathy. The eye shots are the same medicine as given for Wet AMD. The difference is I only needed 3 monthly shots to treat my left eye and 12 monthly shots to treat my right eye. There is no way to know when I will need to begin shots again or how many months I will need them. For my condition it will be a lifelong treatment but not every month as they offer only a temporary cure. In the case of macular degeneration, it is generally an every month procedure for the rest of one's life as it is a maintenance procedure. I say that with the knowledge when my MIL got them, we were told about 20% of patients saw improvement, 20% saw worsening, and 60% saw no improvement but also had no worsening of their eyesight. Kim, I hope you are in the percent of patients who experience an improvement in their vision.

I've had the shots as well though only in my left eye. Monitoring an issue right now. Hopefully, it resolves on its own. Be strong and good luck!

If you start seeing fuzzy or dark zones in your vision field this can be the sign of the dry version. The wet version is characterized by geometrical aberrations, the typical symptom is a straight line appearing curved at some location (this is due to the bending of the retina due to the expansion and leaks of underlying blood vessels). The dry isn't known to respond to treatment, but the wet generally does.
For the wet, where the evolution is fast, speed is of the essence. If you see strange curved lines on what should be straight, consult immediately (even a week wait is too much). The sooner you start treatment the less it will leave permanent damages affecting your vision.
Below is a simple test you can do yourself. Of course it doesn't replace a consultation, you should get your eyes checked regularly by an ophthalmologist.

Glenda, I'm so sorry. I hope the shots work.

Sorry to hear about your vision issue
My left eye never turns out well. Sometimes I use a brush with powder, that seems to be more forgiving.

I'm on my 4th month of shots. They gave a new one this last time. It seems to work better. Doc said that if this works, I may need a shot every 3 months. I haven't put on any makeup around my eyes since this started. Just a little lipstick. That sucks:sad:
