    Are you "pretty"?

    Hi, girls,

Do you feel comfortable referring to yourself as pretty? Men being called pretty usually has a negative connotation. But I love to refer to myself as pretty and I like calling my T*girlfriends pretty when we are dressed en femme! I see nothing wrong with that. However, my wife goes bananas when I refer to myself as pretty even when I'm being Stephanie. She must have the the same negative feelings about it. What do you think about pretty?

    Love,
    Stephanie

I feel pretty and witty and bright!

    Pretty Is As Pretty Does

If we have the right attitude, I think we all see ourselves as pretty. When I was young "lad" someone told me I was handsome. One of my friends contradicted this by saying that I wasn't handsome but pretty, like a girl. I blushed all over & never forgot that I am pretty. Don't you either

I use to be, when younger. And thinner.

    Even my wife said so.

So, no, I don't have a problem with the word.

I'm mistaken for female in drab on a regular basis. Dressed? I haven't being out in public for more than 16 years but I have a feeling the same people who call me Mame at the mall will probably call me Sir when I'm dressed.

Am I pretty? I don't know, below the skin maybe.

If you crossed Richard Gere with a little bit of Julie Andrews and a whole lot of Carol Burnett, that would probably be me.

I am as Gilbert and Sullivan said (multitudes of under 40's are rushing to "google" that) "in the dusk with the light behind me."

It's funny... I don't really think of myself as being "pretty"... but I often describe the clothes I like to wear as such.....

People use the "P" word with me all of the time. Just the other day someone told me, "You're pretty ornery." Others comments included, pretty nice, pretty good, occasionally pretty bad, but never pretty wild.

So I am used to it.

Trying to get back on subject, after all the PRETTY silly comments, My nail tech has said that my face looks pretty, and has commented that I always wear bright pretty colors when I see her.

You really wouldn't have wanted to see my face five years ago, fat and rather dried out from working outside and not taking care of myself.
Gallons of moistureizer, weight loss, proper sleep, more gallons of skin firmer and lots of makeup, kinda helped.

When she says things like that, you can be sure I thank her and of course the tip goes up too, ( but I think she knows that)

    I feel charming
    Oh so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel
    And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I'm real
See the pretty girl in that mirror there?
Who can that attractive girl be?
    Such a pretty face
    Such a pretty dress
    Such a pretty smile
    Such a pretty me!

(Now I'm gonna be whistling that darn tune for the rest of day...at work! Fortunately none of the guys in my ofice are old enough to know anything about "West Side Story"...)

I don't know if I'm pretty, but dressing up makes me feel pretty and I love that feeling.

My wife often says I have pretty blue eyes. I'll take that! And while we're mentioning movies, let's not forget De Niro singing about how pretty he felt in "Analyze That".

No. But if someone else wants to call me "pretty" then who am I to argue with their perception

I feel happy and that's as far as it goes... I may be vain, but compliments like that are for others to give... at least that's what I feel...

I've always described myself as nice looking, which is just below good looking, which is below pretty.. but above Shrek!

I have no problem with the word. Often when I dress, I feel pretty. Now, it is for others to decide if I really am or not. If they agree with me, all the better. As for the drab me, I doubt if anyone with a proper command of the English language has ever referred to me as pretty. Am I disappointed?

While I don't really use it on myself I won't shy away from someone else calling me it.

First I would thank them for it,
then I would take their keys away before they try to drive that drunk,

I feel totally pretty every time I am Kathryn and sometimes when I am not! I think one of the things that appeals to me SO much about dressing is that I GET to be pretty. Men never have that opportunity and I try to take full advantage of every moment. So, YES. I am pretty!

I don't like the word. It is not positive enough.
Me ? In Glasgow dialect, I used to be a "wee Smaassher". In plain English, downright beautiful.
