    Questions about hormones

    If this is the wrong place to post this I apologize and remove it please.}}

Before doing a little reading about hormones, I thought that you could take some pills (do they come in pills or jabs? well, you can see here that I have no idea) for some weeks and then stop and after some months your body would bounce back to where it was when starting the hormone treatment.

My idea was to take hormones for a week or two and then stop and hope my body will go back to what it was like pre-hormones. However, I've read that once you take hormones, first and foremost you need to consult to a physician and once you take, there's no turning back.

My question is, after how much time (a week, one month, six months) did you start to notice the effects, minor like hypersensitivity or major like change of the bone structure and body?

Why would you want to take hormones for "a week or two"? For that short a time any changes you notice are most likely going to be all in your head. As in psychosomatic. Now granted, for some of us that was a pretty important part of starting our transition, but in the first couple weeks it is pretty much going to be mental only. And that will definitely go away as soon as you stop.

Hormones are very, VERY powerful drugs, that if taken unsupervised by a physician, can KILL YOU!!

Don't mess with hormones unless you want to become a woman. I've been on them since last September, and the changes are minor.

hhmm the is quite the post from what everyone has told me in this forum you should be absolutely sure this is what you desire before even thinking about srs it is a very serious step to take. I have thought about taking this step for ten years and still abit cautious ( very little bit). #2 inorder to get these medications you have to go through therapy. More$ once you get that very special letter you have to find a Dr. that is willing to give you the prescript to recieve your hormones not to mention the blood work $$$$ dont think a week or two is really an option. Sorry Amanda

Before doing a little reading about hormones, I thought that you could take some pills (do they come in pills or jabs? well, you can see here that I have no idea) for some weeks and then stop and after some months your body would bounce back to where it was when starting the hormone treatment.

Hormone therapy comes in pills, patches, and injections.
Yes, we can see that you have NO idea what you are talking about.
Do some study. Do some reading.

My idea was to take hormones for a week or two and then stop and hope my body will go back to what it was like pre-hormones. However, I've read that once you take hormones, first and foremost you need to consult to a physician and once you take, there's no turning back.

Taking hormone therapy for a week will do NOTHING.
Yes, you DO need to consult a physician, and not just ANY physician, you need a specialist called an "endocrinologist".
It's not true that there is "no turning back". Anything you do can be reversable. You can turn back anytime right up until the knife. You may have some results from this to deal with, like larger breasts, but they can be surgically removed.

My question is, after how much time (a week, one month, six months) did you start to notice the effects, minor like hypersensitivity or major like change of the bone structure and body?

Hormone therapy does not happen in a week. Hormone therapy takes months and years to have any real effect. 5-10 years for some, 6 months for others. Everyone is different and there are no hard and fast rules.
Hormone therapy does NOT change bone structure. Depending on your age, hormone therapy will have little effect on your body.

You need a LOT more learning. Some of the information you need you can find here on this forum with a little digging. Some of the information you can find on the web. But you DO need to consult with a doctor or other health care practitioner. At this time, judging from your questions, I would advise you to stay away from hormones completely. It sounds like a fantasy to me, and hormones are NOT a fantasy. They are real and dangerous.

My best advice for you is simply to go read up on the mtf process in general and about hormones. Somewhere on this site GypsyKaren has a wonderful list of helpful links. Indulge yourself and read and learn. Don't hesitate to ask questions you may have here. Please excuse some of the not so wonderful responces you have gotten. If you hang around this site awhile you will see quite a few people show up asking similar questions and they want, basically, tits and a dick and it really doesn't work that way.
In a partial answer to your question, many factors, age and your specific genetics are very influential ones, and others, will factor into how quickly and effectively hormones will work and the length of time you take hormones is a primary factor in what PERMANENT effect the hormones will have upon you. Please read up on this and become your own critical thinker regarding this.
I have been on hormones almost one year, I'm not even up to an A-cup yet. Others are past a C-cup by one year. It varies significantly. Breast growth is PERMANENT. It will not go away after you quit takng hormones. In taking hormones you are basically putting your body into a female puberty mode. The hormones cause breast tissue, mammory gland stuff, to grow. Once it grows it does NOT go away. Hormones also interfere with "male performance". Myself, I've pretty much lost the ability to get an erection, and what 'erection' I get is 1/3 or so the size of prehormones. My sperm has been shut down by the hormones and I haven't produced any in, well almost a year. By this time, I have had a PERMANENT effect on my sperm count and possibly my ability to EVER produce sperm (not the I'd want to. yuckoo!). So, if you have ANY POSSIBLE desire to impart you DNA into the cosmos from here on out, hormones is NOT the way to go.
I think the BEST course for many is simply to spend money on a quality set of breast inserts.
BUT, often, myself included, come here asking body questions, because that is all they know how to ask. Another reason to read up and learn more. The more I did, the more self discoveries I made and ended up with a gender therapist, taking a hormone regime and my life is evolving in the manner it should be. No regrets here. btw, A significant and primary reason I take hormones is about the emotional and mental effects they have upon me. My internal self feels so much less fractured than before hormones.

Okay, too much out of me, read read read and read some more!!! Learn about yourself and what your motivations are. Be prepared for some inconvienent and interesting answers about yourself. You may get them as I did.

    Best of luck!

Okay, it was and it IS obvious that I have no idea about hormones. I don't plan on taking them. I'm not planning on transitioning for the time being either. That's why I said that my idea was... and that I thought that...and that I'd done a little reading.Period.

If I decided to post this was because I wanted answers from people who went through the process. I know it must've been no picnic to have decided to start taking hormones. I think I read we're all here to learn from each other and to educate one another. I know it sounded like a fantasy, a stupid one but at least it was my query. I don't know everything. Otherwise, I'd've posted something more specific that shows I did my homework.

I know before taking hormones, I ought to read a lot about hormones and go see some specialists. I didn't need you to tell me to do some study, do some reading. Yet since I don't plan on transitioning or starting taking hormones, I'd rather buy me some shoes or pretty dresses or waste my time and money on booze. I still can decide what to do with my life in the future that lies ahead. Thanks everyone for your answers anyway.

    Hi..
From the tennor of what you are saying is . as a ? why would you take meds that you know nothing about & for what . you are young unless you are & know what you are . male female or a mix .
Iv been working with meds over 37 years . with my s o . so have a good understanding of how they work or not & the mixes of different ones & how they effect a person .
One detail is you need to be on them for months & years to see the results . & for some it takes 3 months to get them out of your body . if you have not allready done the damage ,

    lets look at h r t ,
a week even a month they dont work that fast . & if they did your body could not cope . or you would be quite dead . if your dose s were two high ,
playing around with meds that are for women can effect men in different ways .
if you play with fire you will get burnt . it effects every one differently .

first off see your G P . then a endo . have your blood count done get a base to work off . sort out your mind . other wise the meds will & the result may not be what you need . its not a game .
Iv been on h r t . meds . for over 5 years . at 62 . there will not be any changes other than what i have now . just maintinace of my body . as i need e as my t is with in a womans range .
Of cause theres a lot more you need to do. do your home work & do it well before you even try going on meds . dont even think messing about with them because they can kick you very hard . trust me i v seen it & the end result is not good ,

the advise i give is backed up by those who know ...

Seeing as you don''t need telling what to do and you'd rather buy pretty shoes, don't waste our time anymore.
