Being transgender isn't a lifestyle choice. How you deal with it is.

this topic is going to get defaulted to the media section by the moderateor. However this song is what makes me feel like a girl:
    Teeth by Kristin Hersh:

    This hairdo's truly evil
    I'm not sure it's mine
    You're so tall
    It's like I climb a waterfall

I think that we crossdressers can relate to...

...many of the sentiments expressed in this older song entitled "I Enjoy Being a Girl" from the musical "The Flower Drum Song" (well, except for the being drooled over by a guy part, anyway ):

"I'm a girl, and by me that's only great!
I am proud that my silhouette is curvy,
That I walk with a sweet and girlish gait
With my hips kind of swivelly and swervy.

I adore being dressed in something frilly
When my date comes to get me at my place.
Out I go with my Joe or John or Billy,
Like a filly who is ready for the race!

When I have a brand new hairdo
With my eyelashes all in curl,
I float as the clouds on air do,
    I enjoy being a girl!

When men say I'm cute and funny
And my teeth aren't teeth, but pearl,
I just lap it up like honey
    I enjoy being a girl!

I flip when a fellow sends me flowers,
I drool over dresses made of lace,
I talk on the telephone for hours
With a pound and a half of cream upon my face!

    I'm strictly a female female
And my future I hope will be
In the home of a brave and free male
Who'll enjoy being a guy having a girl... like... me.

When men say I'm sweet as candy
As around in a dance we whirl,
It goes to my head like brandy,
    I enjoy being a girl!

When someone with eyes that smoulder
Says he loves ev'ry silken curl
That falls on my iv'ry shoulder,
    I enjoy being a girl!

When I hear the compliment'ry whistle
That greets my bikini by the sea,
I turn and I glower and I bristle,
But I happy to know the whistle's meant for me!

    I'm strictly a female female
And my future I hope will be
In the home of a brave and free male
Who'll enjoy being a guy having a girl... like... me."

Then again, there's always Shania Twain's "Man! I feel Like a Woman". Or maybe we can apply our own particular interpretation to Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out"?

Dude looks like a lady is the song your referencing I think.

Anyway I don't seem to be coming across any songs that directly relate to cding, but I've got a myriad of them that deal with how we choose to live. Two that recently came to life are "It's my life" by Bon Jovi and "What If" by Emilie Autumn.

"It's my life" talks about having the strength to be yourself regardless of what the rest of the world thinks, while "What if" talks about looking beyond the surface of what's there and accepting what lies underneath.
To stand strong and independent so that I can help those who cannot stand by themselves.
I will do this by abandoning my old ways, and learning anew what I must do to succeed
I will find strength within instead of looking outside.
I will recognize when I need help, instead of struggling on my own.
I will break the cycle I’ve followed and be free.
I will stand strong and independent, but I won’t stand alone.

    My Mission Statement

Fairly self explanatory song by the Manic Street Preachers :-p

    "Born a girl"
Does exactly what is says on the tin that. From the album "This is My Truth Tell Me Yours"

Song comes bassist & now lyricist of the Manics' - Nicky Wire - as he regular crossdresses on stage. Its quite a laid back, unusual, wintery sound song with harmonica & subdued guitars.

    Lyrics:

"Do I look good for you tonight
Will you accuse me as I hide
    Behind these layers of disguise
And the mirrors of my own happiness

I've loved the freedom of being inside
Need a new start and a different time
Something grows in the space between me
And it's twisting and changing this fragile body

And I wish I had been born a girl
    Instead of what I am
Yes I wish I had been born a girl
And not this mess of a man
And not this mess of a man
And not this mess of a man

    The censorship of my skin
Is screaming inside and from within
There's no room in this world for a girl like me
No place around there where I fit in"

    repeat chorus.

...Oooh, though its not about crossdressing or such; "Girl Anachronism" by the Dresden Dolls is such a manic, infectious, imaginative song about feeling out of place that, to me anyway, its rings alot of bells. On a side note - the music video is brilliantly unhinged!

    Oh small thing....

Just to clarify about the song I put up - hope no one gets too down about the lyrics!! I wasn't trying to depress anyone.

But I put them up as, naturally, some of us may sympathise with those particular lyrics. I know I do...however despite the fact I am still upset that I've never fitted the "manly man" ideal, I'm happy with the feminine side now, so I can hear Born a Girl & realise how far I've come in acceptance.

    :-)

So... don't shoot me for posting it! Warning shots at the very most :-p

How about Take A Walk On The Wildside By Lou Reed

    Holly came from Miami, F.L.A.
Hitch-hiked her way across the USA
Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her legs and then he was a she
    She says, Hey babe
Take a walk on the wild side
    She said, Hey honey
Take a walk on the wild side

Lola by the kinks was mentioned before
So I thought I should post the lyrics for those not old enough to remember them
It was a pretty TABOO song in the 1960's when it came out

    Lola lyrics
    Songwriters: Davies, Raymond Douglas;

I met her in a club down in old Soho
    Where you drink champagne
It tastes just like Cherry Cola, C-O-L-A cola

She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice
She said Lola, L-O-L-A, Lola, L-L-Lola

Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
    Oh my Lola, L-L-Lola

Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman but talked like a man
    Oh my Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola

Well, we drank champagne and danced all night
    Under electric candlelight
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
And said, "Dear boy, won't you come home with me?"

Well, I'm not the world's most passionate guy
But when I looked in her eyes well I almost fell for my Lola
    L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola
    Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola

I pushed her away, I walked to the door
I fell to the floor, I got down on my knees
Then I looked at her and she at me

That's the way that I want it to stay
I always want it to be that way for my Lola, L-L-Lola

Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up, shook up world
    Except for Lola, L-L-Lola

Well, I left home just a week before
And I'd never ever kissed a woman before
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said, "Dear boy, I'm gonna make you a man"

Well, I'm not the world's most masculine man
    But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man
And so is Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola
    Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola

    Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola
    Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola
    Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola

    Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola
    Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola
    Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola

it was either this or Shania Twain's "Man! I feel Like a Woman"
but I didn't want to upset JenniferB

    TERRORVISION - JOSEPHINE

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vh2JYkjHXk

I had a friend called Joe,
When friends were hard to find,
    He had a restless soul,
    And something on his mind,
    One day I went away,
and then returned to the scene,
Not to find restless Joe no,
    But to find Josephine,

I asked her what her game was,
She said Joe had left the scene,
I asked her what her name was,
And she said.......They call me Josephine.

It took a while to click,
But then I got the gist,
    The girl by my side,
    Was the guy I'd missed,
I took her for a beer,
    To talk about old times,
    Just to find that beer,
Was now a sweet white wine,

I asked her what her game was,
She said Joe had left the scene,
I asked her what her name was,
And she said.......They call me Josephine.

    So we talked all night,
    And I just can't pretend,
    Although I lost old Joe,
    I got a new girlfriend,

I asked her what her game was,
She said Joe had left the scene,
I asked her what her name was,
And she said.......They call me Josephine.
I asked her what her game was,
She said Joe had left the scene,
I asked her what her name was,
And she said.......They call me Josephine.

    __________

I came across this gem before I even knew what I was going through . x

Geez!!! I can't belive it took untill the second page to come up with "Dude looks like a lady". It was the first thinjk I thought of as soon I saw the slugline for the tread.
Then of course my thoughts quickly turned to "Lola", and then to "Take a walk on the wild side'...

Anywho, back to Areosmith... I always heard Steve wrote DLLAL about himself. Steve is one of "us" ya all.... Atlest to certin point anyway. He confines his dressing, (atleast in public anway) to bloues and women's pants. But I saw an interview with Liv Tyler that hints that his CDing in private goes way beyond that.

Live'n on the edge is kinda bout that to.

More tivia,,, "Sweet Emotion" is about Joe's wife. Steve wrote it after the wedding. He was pissed 'cause he wanted Joe. I don't know if Steve "bats for both teams" if you will, or if joe is an exception.

    Biology by Girls Aloud

I'm "curious" about the lyrics (The original video clip (copies on youtube) feature some very nice dresses too!):

    You can't mistake my Biology
    The way that we talk
    The way that we walk
    It's there in our thoughts

The magic numbers in front of me
    The way that we talk
    The way that we walk
    So easily caught

    We're gonna cause a controversy
    The way that we talk
    The way that we walk
    So easily caught

I know his lyrics usually dont exactly praise the LGBT community but i heard this song on the radio and there were 2 parts that i personally related to:

This part is just how i feel about the shallow minded people that force so many of us to never step out of our homes for fear of how people could react, i wish i could just let them walk in my shoes (size 8 pink ballet pumps at the min!) and see that i can't help what i like to do, although it may also tell the douches to stay true to themselves too i guess

In my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me I'll be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what it'd be like to
Feel your pain, you feel mine
    Go inside each other's mind
Just to see what we find
Look at **** through each other's eyes
But don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful oh
    They can all get ******.
Just stay true to you so
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
Oh they can all get ******. Just stay true to you

The next bit is just how i imagine i'll be feeling on my first daylight public outing, just trying my best to blend and go un-noticed!

I almost feel like I gotta check the temperature in the room
Just as soon as I walk in
It's like all eyes on me
So I try to avoid any eye contact
'cause if I do that then it opens a door for conversation
Like I want that... I'm not looking for extra attention
I just want to be just like you
Blend in with the rest of the room
Maybe just point me to the closest restroom

Noticed a few lines in Girls Aloud songs Alluding to CDing, must agree about the video, some gorgeous outfits in most of their videos

A CD friend of mine told me that Suzanne Vega sang a song relating to CrossDressing, does anyone know if this is true, and If so what is the title?

I've posted the lyrics to The Kinks' "Out of the Wardrobe" here before. That's my favorite, along with Bowie's "Rebel, Rebel." But I often catch myself singing Monty Python's "Lumberjack Song." When I do webcam chats dressed and I'm outed I often say that I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok.

    Bob Dylan

From the Oscar award winning song Things Have Changed:

This place ain't doing me any good
I'm in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood
Just for a second there I thought I saw something move
Gonna take dancing lessons do the jitterbug rag
Ain't no shortcuts, gonna dress in drag
Only a fool in here would think he's got anything to prove
Lot of water under the bridge, lot of other stuff too
Dont get up gentlemen, I'm only passing through

    Even Good Ol' Bob...

Seriously? Nobody posted some of the songs that popped into my head (aside from "Dude Looks Like a Lady" and "Man, I Feel Like a Woman") For Example:

"I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun"
    - Cyndi Lauper "Girls just wanna have fun"

    OR

"I was chasin' sun on 101
    Somewhere around Ventura
I lost a universal joint and I had to use my finger
This tall lady stopped and asked
If I had plans for dinner
Said no thanks maam, back home
We like the girls that sing soprano"
    - Alan Jackson - "Where I Come From"

    or even...

    "I'm just a sweet Transvestite,
    from Transexual, Transelvania."

And if I have to actually say where that's from you ladies need to watch more movies...

Then there's Madame George by Van Morrison-

    Down on Cyprus Avenue
With a child-like vision leaping into view.
The clicking clacking of the high-heeled shoes,
    Ford and Fitzroy; Madam George.
    Marching with the soldierboy behind
He's much older now with hat on, drinking wine
And the smell of sweet perfume comes drifting thru
In the cool night breeze like Shalimar
And then your self control lets go
And suddenly you're up against the bathroom door.
The hallway lights are finely getting dim
You're in the front row touching him
And outside they're making all the stops
The kids out in the streets collecting bottle tops,
Going for cigarettes and matches to the shops,
    Happy talking, Madam George
And that's when you fall, Oh,
    Oh, that's when you fall

And you fall into a trance
Sitting on a sofa playing games of chance
With your folded arms in history books you glance
Into the eyes of Madam George
And you think you've found your bag,
You're getting weaker and your knees begin to sag
And in the corner playing dominoes in drag,
The one and only Madam George
And outside the frosty window raps
She says "Be cool, I think that it's the cops"
Stands up, drops everything she gots,
It's not easy now you know
Now you know you gotta go
Catch a train from Dublin up to Sandy Row,
In the wind, rain & fog & slush & snow
    Keep on going on
Say good-bye we know you're pretty far out
And all the little boys comin' round
They got gold cigarette lighters in their pockets
Walking away from it all, so cool.
    That's when you fall.

And of course "Make Up" by the legendary Mr Lou Reed -

Your face when sleeping is sublime
And then you open up your eyes
Then comes pancake factor number one
eyeliner, rose hips and lip gloss, such fun
    You're a slick little girl
    you're a slick little girl
Rouge and coloring, incense and ice
perfume and kisses, ooohhh, it's all so nice
    You're a slick little girl
you're such a slick little girl
    Now, we're coming out
    out of our closets
    Out on the streets
    yeah, we're coming out
When you're in bed it's so wonderful
it'd be so nice to fall in love
When you get dressed I really get my fill
    people say that it's impossible
Gowns lovely made out of lace
and all the things that you do to your face
    You're a slick little girl
oh, you're a slick little girl
Eyeliner, whitener then color the eyes
yellow and green, ooohhh, what a surprise
    You're a slick little girl
oh, you're such a slick little girl
    Now, we're coming out
    out of our closets
    Out on the streets
    yes, we're coming out
    Yeah, we're coming out
    yeah, we're coming out
