My first time was just a year ago last Halloween, as my wife was at work I dressed and went to the casino for a trial run as I planned to ask my wife to go when she got off work. I had been dressing and wanting to go out for a long time, my wife did not know of my cding yet so this was a first. I called my wife, sent her a pic and ask her if she would like to go -- I persuaded her -- we went and it really went well and felt so right! but alas she enformed me halloween was over -- hasen't happened again

Nearly 10 years ago I was traveling on a business trip and just got tired of sitting in my hotel room dressed as Nicole for the 4th night in a row. So I put a few things in my purse, walked out of my room, down the hall, out into the parking lot and climbed into my car. I drove about 10 minutes to a large shopping center, parked the car and got out. I then spent the next hour walking around and looking in the stores. And do you know what happened, nothing, absolutely nothing.

A busy mall on a Friday evening, less than 3 weeks after I realized I was a cross-dresser. I wore a skirt, if I recall properly.

Why there? Well, they had a "family" washroom that I could change in, it wasn't the mall right near work or right near home, and it was an easy bus ride from work and an easy bus ride afterwards to home.

Although I did go out in a busy public place so soon after my Revelation, I also did my share of things like sneaking out of the house in a skirt at 2 AM and walking along the road for a kilometer and back again, or going about 2 km away and ducking behind something and slipping on a dress and walking through the quiet (but not completely deserted) suburb at dusk and changing back close to home.

I had to build up to wearing dresses or "pretty" skirts openly, whereas I did not have any trouble wearing denim skirts openly. Plain denim skirts are so close to jeans or shorts that people barely notice them and don't seem to think "cross-dresser" when they do (especially for the long ones); they are so close to being uni-sex as to be nearly unremarkable. Dresses, though... ah, if you are wearing a dress, then you are definitely a cross-dresser, not just "a guy who happens to find skirts more comfortable than pants."

I met two other "girls" from this site, Roberta and Cissy at a small downtown well lit restaurant in San Francisco almost 4 years ago. From there we went to Divas a notorious TG hangout, which was dead. So, we crossed the street to a bar and spent the rest of the evening talking and me practicing walking in low heels like a woman to their cheers and jeers! I loved it and never looked back.

Probably 12 years ago I was with a running group doing a 'red dress' run in D.C. I went all out and was in the front of the group and learned I was on a false trail and tried to short cut to get back with the group. About ten minutes later I realiezed I was in D.C. wearing a red dress and didn't have a clue where I was. I made my way back the way I cam quickly and caught up with the group. Everyone kept taking pictures of myself and another 'hasher' as we both we dressed to the hilt. I will never forget that day. Haven't tried again since. Some day... BTW, as a newbie here, and an older member, I just want to say this site is great and I appreciate everyone that is active here. It is so good to know one is not alone in their feelings. Wish there was something like this when I was younger...

My first trip out was to the theatre to see "mamma mia". It was organised by Jodie @ The Boudoir. I think there were about 6 or 7 other girls.
I'd only ever been dressed once fully before so it was an amazing buzz.

The first place was a Party, a Halloween party at a Bar. Talk about shaking, it was known as a pretty ruff bar too. I wife at the time and some friends decided to go and here I was dressed in a Bright Blue dress that zipped up the back and had a high neck ruffles. The dress did not just hang there it kinda puffed out, I really miss that dress, I have been looking for one like it ever since I had to get rid of it. Anyway there was this guy who was pretty drunk at this one table and he just kept looking at me. I had another guy say something to me when I went up to the bar once, but the music was so loud I could not hear what her said. Oh yea, I had high heels on a wig and danglingly earrings in too. It was a great feeling.

13 years old, with Mom to Burdines to buy shoes. I was Mom's size in everything but shoes, so when it came time for heels, we had to go get some. Fabulous....I still remember that day as if were yesterday and it was more than 40 years ago....
Bought four heels, including my first really high (4") pair. It was fantastic.

I put some petrol in my car at a fairly bust garage. I filled it up and went to pay then I was told I'd left the pump sticking out.

The first time I went shopping I had a kind of Blue Brothers moment. I drove and parked up near one of the entrances to the Trafford Centre, a huge mall near Manchester and I thought "OK, I'm outside the Trafford Centre and I'm about to step out and go shopping. It's busy and I'm dressed as a woman.....HIT IT!" Well, not the Hit it part, but you know what I mean. That was an amazing experience

TJ Maxx. Thought it would be a rush to go window shopping just like any other girl. Turned out to be such a great experience that I actually got bold and bought 3 pairs of panties and a bra. While I was paying, the SA commented on how cute the panties I was buying were. All I could do was smile, say thanks, and feel my heart pound like a drum while I walked out on a cloud.

Been to a few safe places prior to last year. A support group a couple of times and a tg friendly bar for a quick (about 45min) visit. But last year I had my first real adventure out. I wrote all about it in a previous post. Anyway the first "non-safe" place I went to on that adventure was to church. It was an evening mass. I was really scared someone would read me and hassle me, but it turned out great.

I went to a payless once... I'm sure I was pretty obvious. I was scared but the sales clerk was really nice. I wore pants and heels with a pink sweater. It was such a rush. I can't get up the courage to repeat it though.

My first time out was a Halloween party years (10+ ago).

Other than Halloween ... I went out on walks, and drives where I was seen from afar.

Still not completely confortable with it . . . unless I am in a group.

The first time was at a Rainbow Gathering in Texas in 1988. I wore a tanktop mini dress topped off with a USMC "cover", and this bedragged old road dog said, "Walking around in your little sundress. That's great." I didn't wear trousers for the whole rest of the gathering, and I became a regular gathering-goer.

But that's not all the way "public", I guess. The second time was in a mass demonstration down Pennsylvania Avenue in Wash. DC against the first Iraqi war in 1991. I wore a long cobalt blue skirt for the whole march and made a special point of lighting up a joint as we passed the FBI building.

The first time in general public in a skirt was at the Harvest of Arts Festival in Downtown Lawrence, Kansas in October of 1994. A college age girl gave me giggles of glee, and I became a regular skirt-wearer thereafter.

This was meant to a reply to "a very busy Mall".

I did this too! I would not recommend it. Actually, this one was only somewhat busy. I also make the mistake of going in an entrance (not a store entrance). I wasn't in the mall two minutes, when a teenaged guy says loudly (I never saw him) "It's a dude!"

Hard to say because I did some parties in a exagerated drag. I count the first 'real' time as my attempt to pass in daylight in the regular old public. Dressed up in a public washroom, walked around the block a few times...felt like my heart would burst from my chest. I did it to quench the fear and resolve the question 'could I do it?' that was always nagging at me.

Chili's restaurant on the corner of Menaul and Louisiana. I attended a local TG group, and we all went out afterwards. The time I went to a Halloween party en femme with my wife.....to me it really doesn't count.

Any money found in the laundry is MINE!

    first time outing

I went to a gay bar. I wore a red silk long sleeve blouse, a tight black satin skirt, black patent pumps with five inch heels, searing red lip gloss and a dark wig.

A man actually bought me a drink and sort of "flirted" with me, though I am not gay. It was a delightful shock to be treated like a girl...

Well I'm new to this whole thing so first I had to get all the stuff down to the breastforms. If I was going to do this then I wanted to do it right. Any ways got dressed in a hotel and meet a couple that were open to the idea. Went to a club downtown phoenix Amsterdams and yes it was a "alternative" place but it was so much fun. I really didnt have any issues. Heard these guy that I walked past while trying to find the ATM."wish all the girls dressed like that" it was such a nice comment to hear since I really was nervous and wasn't sure if the couple I was with was just being nice. This might make you all laugh.......it took me three hours to get dressed because I had to do my eye makeup 3 times. I really wanted it to look good. Anyways looking to explore this further however seems to be hard to find like minded people to dress up and go out. Cant do it at home and go out because of the family.

I am who I am...I am very happy with who I am! I am transgender! Time for others to deal with it or get out of my way!
