Have you ever found out someone you knew was a crossdresser?

Have you ever found out someone you knew was a crossdresser? If so, who was it(friend, relative, coworker)? And lastly how did you find out?

    I found a friend online

I knew them well enough to read between the lines on their profile, the pics sealed it once I put the other details together.

Good news; it made my first steps out much easier.

I found out my brother's, ex-wife's, step-dad, is a CD, when he joined the support group I am a member of.

Yes I have when they get catalogs for breast forms in their name and other clues pop up. They keep that part of their life very private and as a CD myself I can respect that and do so.

I agree with Jodi that alot of us(including myself) keep the cd part of our lives private. That is why I am curoius as what clues where there to spot a fellow cd'er. Alot of guys may make some off statements like " did you see those shoes she is wearing?" refering to some very high heels on a good looking women. But this could be an just an observation or maybe some wishful thinking as " I would love the heels".

I was at a support group meeting last night, and someone showed up that I recognized. It's weird, because I know that I know the person but I can't quite place her. I didn't want to embarrass her by saying anything, but it's been driving me crazy ever since.

Not exactly. But someone recognized ME from this forum. His wife called my wife and we got together. Since then I have met several of you girls in 3D.

She didn't give any sign that she did, but I'm very curious to know for sure.

I grew up next to a boy that CDed and was always out on his airing porch prancing around in his sister's clothes. We never talked about it. After she graduated from college she took a job overseas near where I was stationed in the army. We got together a few times. Her father sent me a very private and personal letter while I was there asking if I could tell whether or not she was there for SRS. I was able to search her apartment one day and reported that I could see no evidence of that. At that point I didn't know if she still CDed or not.
A few years ago I was in a chat room and her picture came up. All her information fit what I knew about her. I'd like to finally bring up what the both of us have had in common all these years. Trouble is that chat room no longer exists, she lives many miles away and I don't know where to find her. Perhaps someday.

Yes, as I was retiring my best work friend of over 30 years retired also. He said he loved to gambel as a CD at Motor City casino in Detroit and makes about $100.00 a night then leaves. He claimed there was alot of them there. One of these days I hope to get the nerve to go there as a CD myself, problem is gambling is just not my game.

Yeah... a guy at work. One day I noticed he was wearing heels.. not too femme, but odd looking as he is quite a hairy, blokey sort of guy. Within a couple of days I could swear he had mascara on...

He has now transitioned and comes to work en femme... It's been a mix of emotions for me as I really liked him a lot before... he was quite hunk, and the sort of guy I wish I had been when I was younger. Now I have come out in support of his choice (not come out as in...!).

I like to think that I spotted it before anyone else!
    Kaz xx

Did you admit that the clothes you had on were yours?

One time I commented to a GG at work about her new hair style. I hadn't seen her in a while; she is very attractive. I think she was a little surprised by my complement. Thinking about it, I don't think many men complement women about their hair, clothes, etc. So maybe she is wondering about me.

Well if that is the case there are a lot of the women I work with think that about me also. If I notice someone got there hair done I will say something. But most times I don't notice. Just ask my wife. But on more than a few occasions I have commented over the years.

No but then mine were borrowed for the occasion from my ex wife and daughters. They helped me to put my outfit together. As for the complimenting women on their clothes, they just think I'm flirting with them. I don't think they read anymore into it than that. Billie Jean

Yes. I found out that I am. After buying and wearing skirts and dresses and lingerie for 25 years, you know, the pieces just kind of came together... LOL!

No, but my fear of seeing someone I know has prevented me from attending local CD meetings. My fear, maybe unwarranted, is that the person would "out" me if they were open about their crossdressing. I know that I am probably paranoid, because everyone has been very supportive on this site, but I work in a very unaccepting profession.

I mentioned this in my intro post. I came out to a friend because events made me believe he'd cool with it, and he then came out to me, revealing he'd been crossdressing for years.

I think that people at these meetings are very aware that not everyone is out. Even so, you could specifically ask them to respect your choice. Especially since you have a very unaccepting profession, they would understand. I think that if you want to go to these meetings, you should. The gain far outweighs the (nonexistent) risk someone will out you.

Disclaimer, though: I have not been to any meetings myself. Not because I'm afraid I may be outed... but still. Honesty honesty!

Two guys I knew from high school and I rented an off-campus apartment for our 2nd year of college and it turned out that one of them crossdressed. I know this because I found his stash of clothing (bras, panties, hosiery, etc) one day while looking for something I misplaced. He never mentioned crossdressing or dressed in front of me and I never mentioned it to him. This was during the uninformed 70s at a relatively conservative Midwest school. Really not sure when he did dress but I'm sure he did as the clothing moved around occasionally. Maybe he underdressed and I just didn't notice or realize it. I've often wondered if he frequents this site but have seen nothing that would make me think he does.

I discovered a few years ago that a close friend of mine at school (we lost touch when we left school) is now post-op. So, in answer to the original question - no.

But I often wonder whether our friendship was because our kindred spirits of both being TS? (even though neither of us would tell anyone at the time - well it was the early 70s!)

...Well not exactly discovering a fellow crossdresser.... But a few years ago I was out for a rare night fully dressed at "Ina's Silver Swan" in NYC . This was a regular restaurant that turned into a cd party on the weekends . In the crowd that night was a "tranny Chaser" who I recognized as a guy that I had worked with some years before . I was quite freaked out because he did not seem like the kind of guy that would go to cd/tg events. As he was a very macho body builder and sports type , and seemed kind of homophobic when I had known him at work . I hid from any direct eye contact or conversation as I also very much did not want him to recognize me.
