Has anyone been outed from this website?

I'd like to know if anyone has ever been outed from posting on this website, or from posting pictures? I'm slowly getting braver and braver with my dressing, but I still have never gone out in public en femme. I have gone out in female casual clothes (plain tops, jeans or other casual pants). I do a lot of shopping openly for myself, including a trip recently to David's Bridal, where I bought a beautiful evening gown. I actually took some photos wearing the gown that turned out great (in my eyes anyways), and would really like to share them.

I am quite nervous to post the pic's though. I know that you have to be a member to see pic's, but I don't know.....it still scares me. I'm not concerned out something getting out from one of the other members here - I have such great respect for all my sisters here. But is there any way that pic's could get out? Hackers? Has this ever happened on this site? If I can just be convinced that there's no risk, I'd love to share my pic's. I know I could blur my face too, but my wife helped me with my makeup and it looked great, so I'd rather not.

How can you lovely ladies help me take this next big step?

    Cheers!
    Sarah C.

It is worth having a look at the male/female mode thread. Most female presentations bear no resemblance to the male underneath! It is a sticky in the Picture Gallery.

this is an excellent post, im actually pretty curious about the results because I feel the same way. Today is the first time I posted my pics on here and I did it because I figure its who I am and if anyone on here sees it then it must be because they are into crossdressing as well lol

Maybe try friending some people who seem sweet and send them your pictures through private messages. Get their opinions, see how you feel, and decide if you're ready for public posting. <3

    Heres the skinny.

If you post anything on the internet someone else can acquire it.

Ok, now that we have gone over the paranoia aspect of this topic. Les discuss the "really, why does anyone care what we do" aspect of this topic. If someone finds your pic from uploading them here then it was done by someone who frequents this site.
If you use a picture server, like Photobucket or something then your chances increase very little for being found out. Now add on top of that this perspective.

If you post them then you want people to see them.

But that only goes for internet anonymity, Add in the personal people that know you as your femme self. Thats the part that can get malicious. I would only think that if you were to get outed from this site it would be by someone who knows your pics are up here.

I have been posting my pics up here for awhile now. I havnt had any "outing" yet

    Personally Speaking,

Hi Kaz, Yes, I've seen that thread, and love it! The transformations are stunning! My male & female persona's do look quite different (my wife says I look completely different), but I still see "me" in there, which just adds to my concerns.

Keep talking everyone - talk me into it!

lol i know what you mean when you say you see "me" in there i struggled with that thought also. But its quite different boy vs girl mode from an outward look, if you see yourself every day in the mirror then you know everything about the way you look boy or girl so naturally you see "me" either way

Very few people have ever recognised me, even with prompting... You will ALWAYS recognise yourself due to your insider info... You always know what you look like.

cassandra has her own e-mail address and flicker account. i don't have her e-mail on my phone, so it's just at home. this membership is under cassandra's e-mail account. so, keeping that in mind, it's pretty anonymous. even if someone at my job, neighbors or anyone else did see my pictures, which are private anyway, then they would have to figure out it's me. then, the question becomes are they going to do anything with that information? probably not.

There was a similar post that scared the crap out of me. Not being outed - I honestly don't care about that for the most part. The earlier thread talked about a**holes taking photos off of here and using them on "tranny porn" sites. Pretty creepy.

Bottom line is that if you put it anywhere on the internet you have to expect that it will be out there!

Well, there's also the aspect of identity theft involving the Internet that no one has touched on yet...

Yes, even if we post here either anonymously or with a pseudonym and don't even show pictures of our male counterparts in the male/female mode thread, what is to stop anyone from copying our picture from here (or from flickr, or photobucket etc.) and then passing themselves off as us? The truth of the matter is that once you post something on the Internet, you effectively lose control over it.

Just for the fun of it, google your own femme name and see what comes up from that search - you would be amazed! And the more social networking sites you post on, the higher the chances are that they may be cross-linked in ways that we cannot even imagine.

For instance, my male self does not have a facebook account, whereas "Leslie" does. On the other hand, "he" is on LinkedIn for business purposes, while she is not. Yet somehow, "Leslie's" make up artist suddenly popped up on LinkedIn as a person that "he" might know, and as a recommended contact. No real harm done, but how the devil that happened is beyond me since I keep both personas totally separate - or so I thought!

I've not had any problems. I even put one of my pictures on a dating site just to see what would happen (I got several more replies than I ever had with a male picture of me). But unless you are broadcasting that is you then there is only a very slight chance of ever being discovered. Just reading here it seems most people don't see that the woman in the picture is the guy they have known for however long. Even with my hair color the couple of people who have seen some of my pictures didn't even recognize me.
It's true there is always a chance. But unless you're living a very public life, or broadcasting it, the chances of getting caught are so small that it's very unlikely you'll ever get caught.

It took me a long time to finally find the courage to post an avatar here that's actually me… but I finally came to the conclusion that such concerns were mostly nonsense. The likelihood that there would be anyone looking to out-me is crazy paranoia, as is any fear that I'd be recognized. But if somehow it did, so what? I'd be outed before I was ready. Unpleasant, yes, but life would go on… Besides, a simple pair of glasses worked for Clark Kent, after all. Seems a full feminization makeover would be more than enough to keep the world far from the light of my makeup mirror.

If both personas use the same computer then they've used the same IP address even if that address isn't static. Facebook sold the info linking Leslie, her IP address, and list of associated persons to LinkedIn and LinkedIn made the connection to your male persona's IP address. These businesses build their reputation by coming up with "how the heck did they find him/her" connections and yours is just routine for them. If Leslie and your male persona were wife and husband the suggested friend would be innocuous.

I'm wondering the same, I still see me in the picture but what will others see if they know the real me. Will they see it differently? I have yet to show people that know my male side what I looked like dressed up

Remember that the MtF CD Forum is public; it is not exclusive to members. It is also google searchable, so rather unique screen names pop right up, with all you posts in this forum. And thre was a blogger who discussed crossdressing and took pictures off this site. Once it is out there, it is out there.
Hi, I'm Steffi and I'm a crossdresser... And I accept and celebrate both sides of me. Or, maybe I'm gender fluid.

If you want to be 'outed' then let someone else use 'your' computer! Although posting pictures on the web can be scary, it just about takes someone looking for 'you' to be outed! Hugs!

Yes it has happened, I remember a post some time back that some one had found there pictures from here at been taken and used on another site, as a false identity as I remember. If you post a picture any one can click on it, and own it. But as far as worry about being outed, look at the number of web sites out there on trans, cross dressers etc. there are thousands, the chances of some one you know going trough all those trans sites, seeing your picture, dressed and recognizing you, just might be a trans person themselves, why else would they spend all that time looking at those sites. My oldest son saw a picture of me dressed one day on my computer, while we where looking for a picture for him, I had lost track of that picture, so was surprised when it came up, just closed the folder quickly with making a fuss, and he asked me if that was one of the women, in the club the wife and I belong to, since I am a member, I said yes it is, and we went back to looking for the picture he wanted. The boy has known me for 45 years, and he couldn't spot me at a long glance. unless they are looking for you, most would not even think of it. And I do post pictures of me on here when I have one I like.

Sarah, I hear you, and I share a lot of your concerns. I've been a semi-active member here for a long time and I don't post pix of my face. But, there can be pressure to do so. When I've put up headless full body shots, I've gotten notes/feedback from other forum members who say some version of "aww, it'd be great if we could see the rest of you!" But, if you want to basically eliminate the chance that an identifiable image will be out there, stick to your guns and don't post your face.

I suppose someone could recognize a small birthmark on my lower back when I'm at the swimming pool or something, but hasn't happened yet!

since I've got over 40 youtube videos of me dressed being outted online isn't a worry. If someone I knew saw my videos I would just say "did you like them?"

How true this is: I forgot to log off about a year ago and we had some family over. Yes , I did close out the site but the cookies were saved in the tool bar. My neice came over and wanted to use the computer and decided to see what sites I visited. Well she clicks on , no only did she see all the threads that I had visited she found my profile. To this day and she is young about 8 she hasn't said anything to anyone but she did ask if I was denise for some reason we seem closer. These young kids know more about computers than we think!!!

good message but wrong on a few points, when applying for a job, employers can do background research on you and may find out about yu on this site without being a person that frequents the site, and if you store you photo's on a photofarm like photobucket or whatever, they can use the tinyeye to find pictures that match or are similar to the on on photobucket and again find out about what you do.

I'm very careful what I post on here to avoid revealing who I am. I don't post pictures, and I' try to be as vague as I can be. so far I'm solid on this site as no one found out about me from here.
