Goth / hippy / alternative look...good / bad?

I am trying to get a look together and wondering if anyone else dresses in more alternative wear? And if so, what kind of things?

I am actually interested in putting together an outfit based on the Japanese cyber lolita look. Black and neon colors, very large clip on pigtails (Usually neon dreads on black, straight oriental type hair and colored lipstick. Usually heavy lace up boots. Outfit, makeup and hair matching color. I think a bright bold blue would be pretty.

It would be alot different than the conservative outfits I've been wearing. I think it would be fun. Here's a pic of the look I would like to try.
