Okay girls, my turn. Tonight was my first night outside the safety of my back yard

(warning - this may turn out to be a long post, but I am excited!)

Well, outside the safety of my dark back yard. Reading this forum has really pushed me to be a little more bold! This must be the pink fog I keep hearing about...

This week, I bought some black leggings (I Love leggings), and a top that is like a black and white cheeta print. It goes great with the leggings, IMO. I have short hair on my head, and had been playing with hairspray the past few nights, but I wasn't happy with the outcome. I decided today I would purchase my first wig! Suddenly, close to midnight, I got a wild notion to leave the house dressed. So I put on my black leggings, cute top, and my new wig. I thought the wig looked cute, but then I applied makeup! WOW! I couldn't believe what was looking back at me! This is only my third time trying to use eyeliner, but it turned out pretty good. Tonight was the first time I used any face makeup, I just put it on, evened it out, and smudged it until it looked good. After choosing a very pink shade of lipstick and opting for my black leather 4½ inch heels (they are leather and fit like a glove!), I set out driving. Didn't really have a plan, but I live fairly close to a big city. I drove down the busy street where there are several bars, and plenty of people walking on a Friday night. Nervous as hell, but it settled down when I got a confidence boost. I was sitting at a red light with the window halfway down. Guys in the car next to me started chatting, "hey baby" and asking what I was doing alone tonight, and things like that. Now, I am very attuned to hearing sarcasm, but there was none coming from the car! Even though I was sitting in a truck, I was about 5 feet from them and had them fooled. As they were talking, I gave them a look like "...yeah, you wish" as I rolled up the window. As the light turned green and the window was going up, I heard them say "come on, baby, don't do that, gimmie your number".

I also noticed that a LOT of guys walking down the street were trying to check out the chick in the truck (..me!!). Is this what GGs have to go through? Never realized how many guys gawk at the ladies until tonight. It was a really neat feeling, while at the same time just a little wierd.

Next, I thought I would try something I had kind of done before. I have worn heels inside a post office at night in guy mode, just to see if I had the nerve. The 2 times I did it though, I sat in the parking lot for at least 10 minutes, making mental notes of everything so I wouldn't get caught. Tonight was different though. I pulled up to the door, got out of my truck, and walked right by another parked car where someone was just leaving. I went inside and walked all the way to the back, and pretended to be checking a PO box. The clicking of the heels hitting the floor sounded way more confident than the last time I tried it in guy mode. It was so much fun to practice my walk, and how I stand, and how I hold my arms and hands...

I drove again, going to 4 more post offices, each time getting more confident. The last one was by an all night gas station, and the walk to the front door was a long one. The people getting gas noticed me walking across the parking lot...guess it's hard not to hear high heels hitting concrete.

Also on my journey tonight, I pretended to be checking out the movies at the Redbox rentals outside various stores. I must have hit 4 redbox locations. And the big thing I done tonight was leave the house with no change of clothes, and my gas tank nearly empty. At some point, I knew either I would turn around and go back home, or be forced to stand at the gas pump, getting gas! I chose a not busy gas station on the corner of two very busy streets.

Several people seen me out and about tonight. I know some people had to have read me, but I didn't hear one negative comment. I almost wore flip flops so I wouldn't look too out of place, but it WAS Friday night and most girls around here wear heels to go clubbing. I guess I looked about right for a girl just leaving a club.

I didn't plan to do any of this tonight. But after seeing what a wig and some makeup can do for a girl, I HAD to go out. I put myself in situations where I would be seen, several times. Really enjoyed the thrill of the evening, and I can't wait to do it again soon, If you read this far, thank you. I also snapped a couple of pictures of the outfit, I may post it here later.

    Wow, what A blast

Good for you Tiffany, Sounds like a barrier was broken. Theres nothing like the first wig (unless you have naturally nice long hair) to make you feel like the girl you are. There's no stopping you now. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Tiffany, that's great. This forum and its members let you know that you're not a freak and that it's OK to be a crossdresser and go out if you wish.

It's been a while and before my wife was aware of my dressing, but I did much like you did, drive and walk shopping areas and pump gas at night. I also went out in the daylight wearing sunglasses in a nearby city. It's really a thrill.

    Tiffany,

It certainly is fun to go out and get 'hit' on. Just be careful. Please be careful. Going out alone you invite scrutiny as a woman, especially at night. But getting together with two or three other CDs means you are read. Go out with a GG and you will have a truly mind blowing experience, and it is likely you won't get read....people place you in the context of the situation AND WHO you are with. Some of us become very passable when escorted by a handsome man or in the company of two GGs as a girls night out....enjoy the freedom, it's liberating and awesome....

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am still on a high from it. I would love nothing more than to go get a cute pair of sunglasses and get all ready to go out again, except this time in the day. I noticed that when I was dressed up, I didn't have to TRY to stand different, hold my hands different, or walk different. It just felt more natural than anything. I walked to the end of the rows of post office boxes not only to hear my heels click on the floor, but also to watch myself walk. One foot in front of the other, arms swinging slightly with a natural gait, I noticed that even my butt was moving side to side some (maybe that is a normal by-product of high heels). It was also thrilling and scary knowing many people were seeing me pump gas in heels! I avoided the thought of sitting in the truck waiting for it to finish. Instead I walked to the back of the truck, acting like I was checking on something. Wow, I want to go back out RIGHT NOW! But I have to learn to contain Tiffany. I have many things to do around the house today. And I have a friend that invited me to poker night tonight. Bunch of guys, drinking beer and playing cards. Once we were playing, I had a full house and lost half my chips due to an even luckier 4 of a kind. One of the guys joked and told me, "Well, why don't you just put on a dress and cry about it?". I thought, "if you only knew".

I took a picture last night in the bathroom with my awful camera phone. I cannot figure out how to post it here though. Does it have to be uploaded to a hosting site like Flickr first?

    Thanks
    Tiff

I can't even begin to describe how much having a wig and makeup helped in the confidence area. And I am far from a makeup artist! All I had on was some foundation or base (whatever you call it) to even out my face skin tone, some eye liner, and lipstick. My training was done by youtube. I have short hair, and have tried to style it before and go out. I didn't even make it down the road it was so bad! Last night, I got ready and just left, on a wild notion. It was like I was a completely different person, except this one had confidence. Not once did I sit in my truck and decide if I should get out or not, I just did it! I would have never guessed that a $50 wig would help me so much. Good Luck to you!

Melissa, thank you for your concern and advice. I will admit that I drove past one Redbox location because a crazy looking guy in a van was sitting close by. I stopped at that location a little while later when he was gone, and I felt safer. The middle aged lady that was there the second time didn't seem like a threat though. I couldn't believe I did get "hit on" a little, at least I was in the safety of my truck behind a locked door when that happened. Being in fem mode made me more safety conscious, and I also figured out why my wife doesn't wear her hair down when it is hot outside!

Congrats Tiffany. I am convinced that the best time out is the one that is done at the spur of the moment that does not involve days of worrying. So glad you had fun, and it will be even more fun in daylight. After my four trips out in public viewing, i am back in the closet to work on makeup and femininity, as my trips made me think more about them, but I do plan to get back out there. Having gone out, it is now just something that should be normal. A few more outings for you, and I have the feeling it will become normal.

Tiffany, girl you will never be the same for now on, once out it is when is the next time, congrat, it is a big step, going out in public, but reading your story, i know that there was a smile on your face that you knew that you could really be the girl you thought you were. Girl looking forward to see your pictures. But if you don't, pictures don't mean that you didn't do it, and don't let any tell you different. Hugs.

Ok, so here is a picture I took just after I got back home this morning. It is not the best quality, but it will do for now. The makeup is a little hard to see here, but this is after being out for four hours, and prespiring. (ick)

I can't go out in daylight because there is no way I'd pass. I'm not cutting off the 'shache. But I do occasionally take an night drive sometimes to the post office, get gas in the truck or over the beach. It always fun and such a rush. I wish I had more time for it but don't. Continue to enjoy and have some fun.

You look Fabulous. The more you go out dressed the more Confidence you will gain. This is Very Important. Remember, most people are too wrapped up in their own lives to
be bothered about us. Be true to yourself and you will be just fine.
