Bondage and S&M are not degrading to those who find they enjoy that activity. It is very liberating. I first began to explore my feelings by experimenting with nipple clamps and then bought leather corsets and skirts. I did visit several dominatrices. One in particular was very good. She had been trained as a psychologist and knew how to get into your mind. I have never had such an intensely sensual and arousing time in my life. It was wonderful and I found that I loved to be the "bottom" and being one was very calming. I surrendered myself to this person completely for a few hours and it was a catharsis. Later I had to do a lot of work in London and I found an S&M club there where people gathered to chat and have a drink and, when the mood was upon them, indulge in some S&M. People were very considerate and there was no ogling or unwanted advances. They were some of the nicest people that I have ever met and the atmosphere was so calm and accepting. If you have no desire don't even think of trying it but don't judge the S&M community by the ridiculous characterising that it receives in the popular media. It is a mental journey of exploration that is undertaken very safely and does not resemble the silly representations to be found on poor quality porn films.
There is a lot of fetish wear in the 'scene' and for a cross dresser that can be a lot of the fun. So, I think that it is great and recommend it to those who have strong leanings in that direction. Join a group and learn more about it. Don't dive in head first whatever you do.
