    Going braless - confidently

I've read (here and elsewhere) several people's frustrations with getting their breastforms to stick. I love bras, but sometimes and with some outfits I like the braless look (plus it feels great). I have had intermittent success with getting my silicone breastforms to stick using those adhesive strips that came with my forms, but I think I've found the technique that works without resorting to radical or laborious measures.

The culprit, I believe, is skin oil. Even after you've bathed, there's going to be some residual oil in your skin unless you take steps to get rid of it. Here are the steps that work for me:

    1. While bathing or showering, shave your chest closely. I don't have a hairy chest, but even those tiny hairs can impede a good bond with adhesives.

    2. Next, I use one of those net scrub thingies - you know, the ones that look like a sea creature - and bar soap to scrub my chest vigorously. A rough sponge would probably work just as well. Be thorough - your skin should be slightly red when you're done.

    3. Towel off and give your skin a few minutes to air dry before proceeding.

    4. As an additional measure, you can swab your chest with rubbing alcohol using makeup pads.

    5. Apply the adhesive strips to your forms first, taking care to place them very close to the edges - placement is key for adhesion and appearance, so take your time. I use three strips per form - top and two sides. It's okay to cut the side strips in half lengthwise so you don't have to use as many (they're kind of expensive), but I use a full strip for the top edges. And if your forms are large you should stick with full strips.

    6. Peel the backing off the adhesive strips, being careful not to touch the adhesive sufaces any more than necessary. Even a few minutes after bathing, your fingers will have oil on them.

    7. As you position each form onto your chest, lie down on your back and press all along the edges firmly with your fingertips. Then put on a bra to hold the forms in place for at least 15 minutes as you do your makeup or whatever. This will give the adhesive time to bond with your skin without any slippage.

That's it. Your forms should stay in place without any problems. I've worn mine for as long as 12 hours, changed clothes, danced, slept, etc. But in the summertime I do keep a bra handy because enough perspiration can loosen the adhesion. I just try not to sweat.

Did I mention that going braless feels great? And apparently they look good too - don't be surprised if someone wants to feel! :GE:

I just bought a pair of Amoena Tria Contac Light forms. They are self-adhering. I had a pair of Luxa Contacts (the first self adhering type that they made). The old one's didn't stay too well without a bra, but they were weighted. Normal silicone forms are weighted to be about the same weight as a natural breast of the same size. The new ones are much lighter and seem to stay pretty well without a bra. They also stay very well with a strapless bra. I had to wear a strapless bra with a dress that I wore to a party. The forms are too new for me to be willing to try them without a bra. I probably won't know how well they stay in place without a bra for a while, but so far, I rate them excellent.

    Warm regards,

Oh I know girl!!! They are so sexy. And I've discovered that with good breastforms and the right kind of bra, you can still have that feeling of them being part of you. Luv it.

Dangit Christina, we need a field report! I'm trying to figure out how "self-adhering" works? And will those lighter forms feel real, especially braless? You know that jiggle is not just for looks - I luv that motion locomotion!

    But I love my bras!!!

Besides, Victoria's Secret would go out of business if I stopped buying them!

Baby, no one is suggesting that you burn your bras. You can have it both ways. This is not a zero sum thing.

    Case in point:

Awhile back I was at a predominantly lesbian club with a mixed crowd. I'm braless under a tight pink top. A guy asks me to dance. Out on the dance floor, we're dancing, a cute young hottie girl approaches, looks at my breasts and asks, "Can I feel those?"

Not your everyday request, I'll admit, but I smile and say, "They're not real you know."

"I know," she replied, "but I want to feel them."

    "Umm, okay."

And so she does, with both hands, and she takes her time, too. People are looking. I'm looking.

Then she thanked me and returned to her girlfriend. I think I was in a state of suspended animation for several moments. When I returned to earth, my dance partner is smiling and says, "Well that was interesting."

The song is over and he escorts me back to the bar. We're sipping drinks and chatting when he asks, "So, do I get a turn?"

    ...

The light forms are, as the name implies, lighter then regular forms and, therefore lighter than a natural breast. They look very natural -- a key criteria for me. They are made for women who can't support the full weight of a heavy form. I selected the lighter ones since I estimated that they would adhere better because the adhesive had less weight to hold up. So far, it seems to be working. My old Luxa Contacts didn't have as much adhesive as the new ones, and they were heavier than the new ones. Taken together, the new ones are an improvement. The forms I wear are a size 4, which give me a full B cup, but not a C. That looks balanced on my frame. They have some movement, but since they weigh less, they don't seem to move as much. I don't notice it, anyway. Actually, I hardly notice them at all, except when I look down. They are very comfortable. They are quite soft, like mature breast tissue. That, of course, makes sense. There aren't too many teens that need breast forms. Unfortunately, I've lost a few women I know to breast cancer who were only in their 20s and 30s.

My goals may be different than yours. I simply want a natural, balanced look of a woman. Everything else is secondary. Since I'm going out shopping, or having lunch or dinner, and not going to aerobics class, the degree of bounce is immaterial to me and I can't comment on that. The only time I really need them for going braless is when I wear something strapless, or with very thin straps. I wore a dress that has a sheer illusion top above a sweetheart neckline. Bra straps would have ruined the look of that dress, but it was fine with a strapless bra since it did not have a low back. So I can’t comment on how well the Tria Contact Lights stay when worn braless -- yet.

    Warmest regards,
    Christina Nicole

Thanks for the info Christina. I can think of several situations where light forms would be nice, 'specially in strapless tops. A girl doesn't always have to jiggle.

I'm afraid I'm not following you, unless you're joking. Is there a woman-lover alive that doesn't notice jiggling breasts?!? And nipples showing through clothing? I can spot either two blocks away - and luv it!

There are some situations where I don't especially want to draw attention to my breasts, and a firm bra is just the ticket for that. But other times, out clubbing or something, going braless is great fun. My silicone breastforms don't jiggle like jello, but they do have very natural movement - a subtle sway when I walk, a little bounce when I'm dancing or going down stairs. Feels great, and I do get the occasional appreciative look. Judging from the cleavage in vogue these days, I'd say GGs don't mind it either. Know what I mean?
