    Took a test, surprising result.

I just wanted to ask if anyone here has ever taken the COGIATI test?
    http://transsexual.org/cogiati/index.php?lang=en

When I stumbled across it the other day I thought why not. Does anyone know whether it's a decent test? I know it's not as good as seeing a specialist but when I got my result it made alot of sense.
It said I was androgynous. Which actually answers alot of my own internal questions.

    Hugs x
I've always been the kind of girl that hid my face, so afraid to tell the world, what I've got to say. But I have this dream bright inside of me. No more hiding who I wanna be. This is me.

I have taken that test several times and the result is always the same. It shows me very far to the female side every time. It recommends me to seek therapy as I am very likely a transexual.....I already knew that though. It is fun but probably not super accurate. Do a search and look it up on here I remember several fairly recent postings on the cogiati.
All I ever wanted was to be a girl. Is that really asking too much?

I'll be the first of many that point out that this test is not a valid scientific tool. It's fine for entertainment but not for clinical use.

Yes, I agree. The test is fun to take but it really doesn't have much science behind it.

We were apparently thinking the same thing at the same time.

The test questions are worded in a way that you can answer them to get the results you want, so it's far from scientific and in no way is it a diagnostic tool. Sort of reminds me of that saying that if you want to know what decision to make flip a coin. While it's in the air the answer that's in your heart will be the one you find yourself hoping for.

So if you're trying to determine whether or not you're transsexual I think you'll find that you already know the answer. Skip the COGIATI and find a competent therapist and have a meaningful discussion instead.
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back keep me here to wait for me so I don't go back out and miss myself when I return.

I have taken the test a number of times and I always get the result I want.
I even convinced a couple of my friends to take the test and after coaching them with answers they also got results....

One of the problems with these 'tests' is that the people taking them know in advance what it is testing for, and so try to answer in such a way as to get the 'grade' that they want to receive. In this case, they try to answer the questions in a way that they believe a woman would, whether this is done actively or subconsciously.

There's an addendum at post # 82 on that thread, too. It's about a ten minute read.
Why don't we understand our desire to dress, behave and feel like a girl? Because from childhood, boys are told that the worst possible thing we can be, is a sissy. This feeling is so ingrained into our psyche, that we will suppress any thoughts that connect us to being or wanting to be feminine, even to the point of creating separate personalities to assign those female feelings into.

I've taken this before and scored "more male" than I just did (got andro this time)

I decided to cheat afterwards and look at all the results:
    http://www.transsexual.org/cogoffline.html

It also shows the scoring. Kind of shows the inherent entertainment value. The different test results are definitely horoscope-type language (at least levels 2 and 3).

This is what it said about me:
Your COGIATI result value is: -60 Which means that you fall within the following category:
    COGIATI classification THREE, ANDROGYNE
What this means is that the Combined Gender Identity And Transsexuality Inventory has classified your internal gender identity to be essentially androgynous, both male and female at the same time, or possibly neither. In some cultures in history, you would be considered to be a third sex, independent of the polarities of masculine or feminine. Your gender issues are intrinsic to your construction, and you will most likely find your happiness playing with expressing both genders as you feel like it.

    Welcome to the soft sciences!

Talking to a therapist has even less science behind it, but is advertised as the gold standard.

Score 190 Class 4 Probable Transsexual. But I knew that already. Fun test but I can see the flaws.

Never took this test before though so I didn't have a pre-determined idea of answers or anything.

I have seen this test mentioned before here, but never taken it until now. Interestingly, my result value is -120, which is still considered "classification three, androgyne." Interesting that it describes that type as both male and female as that's how I've considered myself since my crossdressing came on strong a few years ago. I just recently learned about the "third sex" aspect, but had embraced the male/female aspect of Hindu deities after learning about them.

Some of the answer choices for the questions weren't exactly right for me, so I had to answer as best as I could. And it seemed that there was some repetition in the questions.

I've taken that test before and got "androgynous" with possible MTF.

I've taken the COGIATI test too. I forget my score but it said I was a transexual. I don't put a whole lot of value in it though. More entertaining than anything.

Took the test and it said I was most likely part of the "Third Sex" group.

Not sure about it's accuracy, but I could maybe see that being true...I don't know where I stand tbh, so maybe in a few years time I could tell about how acurate it was with me lol

Of course this test is just something to have fun with.

What I find interesting is that mathematical ability is treated as a masculine characteristic. But the most current research (from the Mathematical Association of America) shows that males and females have essentially the same level of mathematical ability.

I think it's using mathematical ability as males (or male oriented people) have a lot more logic involved in their thinking, and tend to think about emotions less.

Having a scoring like that feels a bit like the Barbie doll that used to say "Math is hard, let's go shopping!"

The thing to be careful of is that people aren't slotted because of arbitrary biases. There's an open question of whether development might be different or not -- there are known general tendencies, but many of them are trackable to societal bias. Female brains tend to experience color more, and male brains motion, but that's just a tendency. Societal role models are almost certainly a larger factor by far.

One thing, I think, being transgender, is that we need to be careful to avoid getting tangled up with the leftover traps of the past; in particular, we need to be careful not to reinforce them. There is a difference between saying that there are difference voices or perspectives, than saying that there are different capabilities. So, I get a bit troubled by questions such as that.

Also, there are many people with dual capabilities. I ran into the problem that the test was clearly trying to let me guide it towards the answer that I wanted, but the reality was, I was equally good at both things they were asking about, but not something else they didn't mention.

Anyway, it's just for fun, but I do feel nervous in how it chooses to reinforce certain ideas.

The mathematical part is just a generality anyway. I have an aunt who is very much a lady and very feminine who is gifted in math and taught algebra for years. She can read a map too. I think if you were raised a boy, lived as a man for years...you will have masculine tendencies whether you are feminine in gender or not. In our society girls are taught one way and boys another way and that may have more to do with this than actual gender.

Here is a test that is just as accurate but not as much fun

Inside, are you a man or a woman? Only you can know the answer to that.
All I ever wanted was to be a girl. Is that really asking too much?

I meant to send you this test a while ago Kim lol. I've taken a few other online ones and every time I've got almost exactly 50/50, and regardless of how accurate the tests actually are I think that is certainly true.

Took the test just for fun, and came up with the same results. And I,too, knew that for years.
