Seriously, I feel for you. That has to hurt, but it should pass in time. I guess if it gets unbearable a transfer or job change would be in order? Not sure how practical that is, but for most of us it isn't.
I'm not out yet, but I feel like the day is coming...

A women came into my work with this beautiful outfit. She had this gorgeous nail polish on. I freaked!! I asked her where she got it and wonder if it came in my size, and the name of the salon who did her nails because I wanted the same color!
Sorry, but that sounds more like an out-of-body experience than a slip up. I'm sure it will pass.
You're an artist type, right? I'm sure that if someone questions your about it, you can easily tie it to work or process and no one will give it a second thought.
In fact, my experience is that this will all blow over and no one will give it a second thought anyway. People are typically too self-involved to keep on about things like this for very long. Just breathe and wait for it to go away. I promise it will all be forgotten in no time.
I didn't know nail polish came in sizes.

It's best not to mess around where you work. You need the job to exist. To have place to live, to have food, car, clothing, etc.
My point, learn to control yourself at work. If you are a man, be a man, act like a man. Once you are away from work and your co-workers, you can be whatever you like (within reason).

Hi, I'm Steffi and I'm a crossdresser... And I accept and celebrate both sides of me. Or, maybe I'm gender fluid.
perhaps a happy medium would be to complement them on their outfit or nail polish but don't hint that you want it. I do it all the time. Women don't mind and guys don't care.
