    Southern Comfort Conference Newbee

This September 4-8, 2013 is the Southern comfort Conference in Atlanta, GA. I have never gone to such an event and decided that this is the year. So its off to Atlanta just after Labor Day. I am registered for the event, have a room at the Crowne Plaza for the conference with my wife. Being this is my/our first time, does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any things for my wife to do? I want to make this a great experience for both of us and don't want here to be stuck in the room with nothing to do, are there activities for our significant others?

The activities at the conference in the daytime are geared towards TG issues / interests. At night there are several dinners out and parties. If these do not appeal to her then remember you will be in Atlanta and there are a lot of things to see and do there. Stone Mountain, cyclorama, Grant Park, World of Cocacola, Underground, the big Chicken.....not too far away is Ruby Falls and Rock City, a rock music museum in Macon,
    the list goes on.

    (I used to live there)
All I ever wanted was to be a girl. Is that really asking too much?

Well congratulations Jennysueaz for making this your first trip to Southern Comfort Conference. You and your wife will have a great time there. My wife went with me for our first time in 2010. There are many conferences and seminar's to attend too. They bring in lots of guest speakers to educate everyone on the cd,tg, and ts lifestyle and they really bring forth so much knowledge and understandings to SO's of tg people. Of course if you are buying the conference too, you get some very nice meals in one of the larger cafeterias. There will be many gg so's of so many cd's there to meet and talk about cd issues with the good and bad. The evening meals come with great entertainment like a band, or a comedy routine and some speakers. In another part of the lobby just downstairs, there will be karaoke and more dancing. But mostly and this is just my own personal opinion, and that is to meet so many new friends and to talk and socialize with people so much like yourself. Everyone there are so nice and helpful. The originating managers always have lots of events for entertainment in the evenings for everyone. All of the waiters are awesome at the meals. All of the staff are so great and friendly and professional at all times. It's just so much fun just being there and seeing all TG,CD and TS people all in one Hotel. There is the wine tasting, there's the mechanical bull riding, the casino on Saturday nights. The big guest band will be playing on the Saturday night for lots of good music and dancing as well. Plus, you'll come away from there having met so many new friends that you will keep dear to your heart for years to come.
Take a lot of wardrobe changes with you too when you go. There will be so many vendors there in another large wing off to the side. They will be selling wigs, corsets, heels, lingerie, of yes, lingerie, and eyelashes, nails, polish, jewelry. The vendors selling wigs will give you all of the help you need and their service is so grand but mostly respectful, friendly and professional. There are the professional photographers to give you that awesome polished look for you. There are the make over services there as well. You and your wife both may enjoy a make over from the pros, I'm sure she would enjoy that, plus the dancing and the music. Before you go, get some cards printed off to hand out to your new cd friends too. There will be many GG's there as well for your wife to get acquainted with as well. When you get there, just go right in the front door and turn to the left. There will be a table there with a few volunteers to answer any questions you may have.
You both will have lots of fun there. And maybe you might even meet me, WOW.

There are forums for wives at the Conference that is for wives only.. lt lets them express their feelings without the hassle of a spouse there to hear... The market place is a nice place to go and walk around.. also the motel provides shuttle service to the Perimeter Mall just down the street if she is so inclined.. You will have a great time as i have gone to it several times.. sometimes just for a Saturday but well worth the time and effort .. Have Fun

I'll toss out a link to my Survival Guide, the Yahoo group, and the Facebook page. Those should help you get started...

As for things to do? Relax, go through the schedule and pick out the seminars you really want to go to. If you're going to be there Wednesday, Princess Day is a fun way to get to know people. Go to the meals, pick a different place to sit every time and you'll meet a lot of people that way. Perimeter Mall is across the street; an easy walk and some great stores. Spend some time in the lounge and the function areas where everyone eventually runs into everyone else...
