You'll see lots of stuff on the Internet. Have you seen one on a real restroom door in a real building?

I've been in small businesses where there's only one restroom for use by anyone and I've been in some where there are two restrooms with no signs, but in my experience, the only "unisex" restrooms I've seen are the ones intended for family use i.e. father and daughter or mother and son.

In a similar vein to Rogina's post I have a similar one from a railway station in Gotenburg, Sweeden... If only I could find it!!!!

Years ago they converted one of the men's rooms in my company building to a "Unisex" one. The sign read: "Unisex restroom. Lock door upon entrance". At the LGBT club I go to the restrooms are clearly marked unisex.

It would be nice if there were more signs like that . . . I still struggle with the whole restroom thing.

I have one like that at my school. It is a "family" restroom but still has the same concept considering its location I always use it since nobody else does it is nice to go in and just have quiet ^^

Quite honestly, I used to always worry about using the wrong one. I just wasn't sure which was which. The Handicapped one is easy but the others were so similar. That's really true, not a CD statement.

Being "shined to the gills" added to the confusion in the old days but I always liked it when they had words on the door too.

At one time when I was worried more about that sort of thing, I mused over making an out-of-service sign to hang outside the washroom while I was in there to avoid people forming a line outside waiting for me to change...

Adding a gender variant symbol to a washroom might be a fun thing to try, then you can say you we in the right washroom and anyone else using it should also get that impression too. That would be a great gorilla awareness campaign if all of the washrooms in north America suddenly had that symbol added overnight.

I agree with Kate as it looks as if it is a new sign for a family or "unisex" restroom.

That's a neat sign. Maybe someday that'll be the norm.
