    Term for Going out in "Guy Mode"?

    I've reached the point where I'm comfortable buying undies in public, but only as my male self (way too tall to pull it off as Brenda!) I passed the crucial test at Lane Bryant a few months back when I went in and bought some panties. While I was in line at the register I just went into a zone of "calm" and felt perfectly comfortable. The sales ladies were very friendly and delighted to help me. Yesterday I picked up two skirts I had tailored (lost some weight yay!). Again, the woman was very friendly, no questions asked.
    Now I know some of us could pull this off en femme, but the irony is I can only do it commando- as a guy! Is there an "official term for this? Appreciate any feedback!

    I saw this on the forum a little while back:
    DRAG= dressed as girl
    DRAB= dressed as boy
    Your sure to see en femme, along with en drab, or drab mode, used on the forum.

    I've never bought clothes while dressed up, but it sounds like fun to me.
    There'd be little doubt who they were for....LOL!

    maybe one day....

    (I'm guessing buying via the internet doesn't count! heehee!)

    I don't think anyone can extend Kristyn's definition - and it's widely recognised here...

    I like to think of it this way for me..

    Guy = DRAB = Ordinary

    Girl = DRAG = EXTRAORDINARY!

    Commando?
    That's a term that describes a guy dressed as a guy but not wearing any underwear.
    Is that how you bought your skirts?

    There are a couple of terms used here, not necessarily by everyone. Underdressed, wearing women's clothing under your male clothing, stealth dressing, which is wearing women's clothes that can pass as male clothes, at least upon casual dressing, and androgynous, which is trying to present in a manner that is not easily defined as male or female. Tracii dresses in 50% mode, which is probably different than androgynous.

    For some of us (me, for example) it is fun to wear 100% women's clothing and yet appear to be 100% in drab.

    Yikes! Had no idea what "commando" meant. No, I don't do commando. Usually lace, silk, or nylon#

    Tweak the Acronyms?

    Thanks everybody for filling me in on our lingo. I was wondering if DRAG perhaps implied a gay CD? Maybe DRAW (Dressed as a Woman) would be better suited for hetero CDs (that would be me!) Just a thought, any ideas?

    Yes Brenda there is an official name for what you do, it's called cross dresser. I've been dressing for ever, and shop in drab a lot. OH, some could call it chicken, but I prefer to think of it as hiding in plan sight.
    You would be surprised, how many of us can't even shop in drab, much less drag.

    For the majority of members here, wearing men's clothing is called "How I dress usually" or daily wear

    I don't know if there is a term or not Brenda. I shop as in male form as well I'm getting pretty good at it. I only hesitate a moment before walking to the fitting room with my treasures.

    Shopping in drab is just shopping to me. Shopping en femme is an outing. It's "more funner" that way.

    I almost always shop en femme. It's just easier that way. No worries about what room to use or causing other shoppers anxiety.

    If it's something I don't have to try on (hose, nail polish, etc.) I just buy it regardless of mode. I'm far past worrying what others make of it.
