    Dangers of High Heels

My new platform Mary Jane pumps arrived in the mail. I couldn't wait to try them on. They fit so well, I love them. Then I realized something very important. When wearing these heels, I'm taller. I walked right into the ceiling fan. Doh!

OUCH!! Watch for low doorways too! On the plus side - now you can probably reach the top closet shelf without too much effort. Enjoy.

Making me taller is exactly why I love them I'm short, naturally, so adding an extra 5-7 inches is love.

I usually put on a pair of my best heels when cleaning out the top closet shelf. Call them my height enhancers.

Sometimes I make sense and that frightens me.

When they talk about killer heels.. I'm not sure they meant this..

It is amazing how much a couple of inches make when trying to navigate around.
Boobs can also be a problem to new wearers.
    Always getting in the way.

Nice shoes. Heels carry a whole world of nuances... from walking on grass, decks, grates in the sidewalk, stairs,... etc... all while not looking down. But it's all worth it.

    Thanks for sharing....

Cute shoes Tammy. I love Mary Janes and I really like them in patent leather.

I guess I should count my blessings! I can wear my 6+ " wedge heels and still be a trifle under 6' tall. saves me a lot of headaches LOL!

I'm scared to go down my stairs in mine. I can go up with
    no problems.

No ceiling fans, though! I'm safe with that! :P

I'm already 6'1" and this is of those ceiling fans that is a bit low anyway because it is in a hallway. I think I was more surprised than hurt. It took me a minute to figure out what happened. On the plus side it will make dusting the ceiling fans easier.

Height may be an issue but after wearing heels for nearly 14 years every day, I can manage almost anything. Now if you have leather soles and metal tipped heels, walking on asphalt is like walking on ice. I learned that the hard way one evening. Was all dressed up for Halloween and went to a party and found it next to impossible to cross the street without falling. It has been a long time since I had nice real leather shoes.

    heel advantage

We do our own house improvement work. Doing work on and around the ceilings was always annoying as the step stool was never the right height. So....you guessed it...a pair if 8" heels is just perfect!

Living in two genders wins again! !!

I just heard on the radio this morning that High heels are now the in thing for guys to wear, everything from stilettos to chunky heels.

Hi Tammy, Oh yes I have that problem with the kitchen fan/light .
Having my ears triple pierced is AWESOME, ~~......

Ugh, I know the feeling. Living in an older house with very low ceilings is a pain. I have to be careful not to bang my head in places when walking around barefoot. With a pair of heels on, it becomes some bizarre limbo exercise.

I seem to have shrunk with age, so for me I should maybe go up an inch or two with my heals

Now that's funny right there! I almost spit out my coffee.

Tammy, I know how you feel. My first pair of pumps was a pair of 6" heels, well that made me about six ten and I wound up walking into a lot of things, doorways was the first, then lights, the fan, hanging plants, etc.. I no longer wear heels (arthritis).

There's an addendum at post # 82 on that thread, too. It's about a ten minute read.
Why don't we understand our desire to dress, behave and feel like a girl? Because from childhood, boys are told that the worst possible thing we can be, is a sissy. This feeling is so ingrained into our psyche, that we will suppress any thoughts that connect us to being or wanting to be feminine, even to the point of creating separate personalities to assign those female feelings into.
