One foot out of the closet for now.

Ever since I have been dressing up it has been a secret that have kept from every one. Well I decided to let a few select people in the know.
First i told my brother because he knows what is like. He had to hide that he was gay for a few years, and also he is very open minded.
After I had told him he says I know, and have known for years, go figure. So that went well, less nervous, so to second person. She An ex Gf we are good
friends now, thought she would also understand. I was very surprised how understanding she was. If I would have been dressing and told her when we where seeing each other it would have been wonderful. That is all thought I would share.

Hell-o Lizzy, Sorry I didn't se this thread earlier, good on you for bringing back to the top.
Your feelings of wanting to let people know are the same for me. Just someone that can actually sit next to you and tell you that it's OK. I have not found that person yet, my family lives nowhere near me, that can be a good thing though. My friends? I can't think of one that wouldn't freak out if I were to tell them, Guess I should have chosen better friends. Come to think of it, sometimes your friends choose you.
Is it getting darker in my closet? Or is it just me?
    Much Love,
    Kristyn
I smile because you are my friend, and
I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it!!!

    Not stupid at all Lizzy,
Thank you for sharing your life & experiences with us. Must have taken some courage to open up to your brother & ex-gf. As well as a relief that your brother had already known. Wonder how he knew? And who else already knows? You're so lucky to have understanding people around you. some of us here do not.
I see that you are kinda new here so Welcome, we're glad that you found us. You'll find that we write about all sorts of things here from silly to sexy to serious. I'm sure that you'll fit right in.

    Hugs, Connie Marie

The way your post is written it made me start to think about some people I have been wanting to tell. I wonder if that is why others didn't respond as they also started thinking about themselves?

    Hi Lizzie,
Good for you and it must be great to be able to share this aspect of you. In my 50 odd years, some odder than others, only six people have known about my crossdressing and frankly, I didn't really volunteer the information freely. But you know, apart from one, a GF at the time, they all handled the situation better than I expected.

    Best,
    Christen

First I want to say thank everyone here for helping me take this step, I do not think I would have the courage to let my brother and ex know if it not for all of the wonderful stories that other have shared. Second I want to say I am sorry. What started out as a great day turned to crap for me, and I let it effect my attitude. Thank you again.

I'm right there with you Lizzy. I have a personal goal of being completely out before I'm thirty. I've been hiding and suppressing a big part of myself for years and years and I'm simply tired of it. It's not as easy as it sounds of course as we all have to be rather careful in how we go about this. My mother and my wife have always known but with my wife's help I am now out to the first person outside my immediate family and it went amazingly well. I'm kind of testing the waters with others by just being more open in general when it comes to speaking my mind. Certain comments have gotten me some priceless expressions from friends already. I think it's key to keep your sense of humor handy as you embark on this path.
For years I hoped I was just a CDer but now I realize I am transgender and that's alright.

Hi Lizzy and thanks for sharing such a great event in your journey with us . Letting people know about this side is never and easy thing because you never know how it is going to go. I am so glad you have had two wonderful experiences.

    Hugs

Lizzy with your ex, it may have been a different story if you were still an item.

Well done on telling them , you should really give yourself major credit most people will never understand just how hard it is to tell people that you cross dress.

    Hi Lizzy,
No not stupid just trying to figure it out and get your life in order, your brain is trying to deal with the juggling act !
A while ago I posted a reply after a conversation with a friend about the possibility of my son finding out about my CDing, his reply was what makes you think your son isn't hiding something from you !
As you say you weren't the only one with a problem your brother admitted to being gay, we all assume our wives are ticking along nicely but they may be wrestling with their own problems and not saying anything.
The other point to remember is what do I want to achieve by telling people and once said it can't be retracted !
