US Navy here
I did a four year hitch in the US navy. At that time (mid '60s) crossdressing was taboo an only mentioned in hushes. I kept panties aboard my ship (which I wore whenever a chance arose) but told everybody they were trophies.

Wow, thank you all for your service . I am so proud of y'all!! My heart & thoughts go out in particular to you Vietnam vets; a period in our lives that we should never forget. I truly hope that your souls have not been permanently tarnished by the brutality of conflict. Forever peace to your souls, mel
Still serving in the RAF... 22 years done, no idea how many more I will do. Thankfully I have a private en-suite room but half the base know Beth anyway
Retired from the Canadian Air Force in 2010 after just over 20 yrs service. Michelle was seen a few times during occupational training. Once at a woman-less pageant and a couple of Halloween parties.

The greatest moment in my time in the Army was when we returned from Iraq and landed for a layover in Bangor, Maine. The local VFW and American Legion were there to greet us. When I saw the vets with Vietnam hats, the tears started because I remember reading how they were treated. I made it a point to thank them for what they went through after coming home.
USAF Oct 1959-Mar 1965. No thoughts of dressing back then.
Air force here also, I was intrigued by Beth's reply, looks like a greater degree of tolerance these days.
When I was in there was an underground movement that flourished.
Work on your elegance,
and beauty will follow.
Retired from the Corps in 97 with 22 years. Dressed occasionally. Became easier with time/rank. Recently I seen a headline that stated the military would not charge retirees who smoked dope. Wonder what they would do if they knew about us?

U.S. Navy on a destroyer just dealt with it and waited until we got back to home port. 75-79 then 81-82
Genny B. i can answer your question of what they would do if they found out about us. From the time I was found out and my discharge for being a sexual deviate in 82 was less than 3 weeks.

Marilyn Monroe: I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot.
Retired Army. 32 years, half active, half Reserve. When I retired, I immediately joined the Navy, civil service, where I still am nine years later.
Still serving in the US Marine Crops with 17 years under my belt (5 of it in the reserve). I dressed before going in and dressed privately or for Halloween for about the first 10 years of my service and then started going out on weekends. Except for some lazy spells, have always shaved and going through whole body laser treatment now. A few years ago, I started underdressing most of the time.
