I don't want to downplay this wonderful achievement. I think it's great! But my wife and I have separate bedrooms. I'm a restless sleeper and she need her rest. Thus separate beds. So we have separate bedrooms as our kids are off on their own. My bedroom has some very frilly feminine curtains decorated by my wife, a dresser and my own large closet which needs some thinning. I suppose some things can be brought to Goodwill or the salvation Army. I have my own girl's bedroom!

Hhhmmm Brittany,
Let me think about this for a minute..
So Your girlie stuff is IN your man-cave, sounds like house imitating life.
The girl is IN you..
Hugs, Connie Marie

Nice job. i'm looking forward to doing things like that when I move. Right now, I'm just basically flipping my own house. I like the way you have things organized. Pretty sweet. I'm kind of spoiled thought, I live alone and have a large walk-in closet.
man, i feel like a woman
Now that's what I need. I love it Brittany.
Sweet! Being that neat would make it so much easier for my wife to borrow my things.
That is really a great closet! Mine is only about a third as big as yours and doesn't have the luxury of drawers.
This post should be an inspiration for young or not young CDs who are kind of hiding clothes or putting them in "another" drawer. Nice combo of a man cave and a beautiful collection
Well?
Who organised that for you?
Work on your elegance,
and beauty will follow.
Organize for me? I'm a manufacturing engineer, all I do with my life is organize.
Funny how that works. I'm a mechanical engineer and I used to do a lot of machine design, but not so much any more. However, I designed my closet in SolidWorks before I made my first saw cuts. With about $1000 in the closet shelving system, I did not want to take any chances...
I took a trip to Ikea a few weeks ago to check out some closet systems.
I'm not quite sure of the size and wether or not it will fit yet, but wouldn't it
be nice!
Thanks for some inspiration!
Much Love,
Kristyn
I smile because you are my friend, and
I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it!!!
I am so jealous. Thats awesome!
I'm content being a once in a while girl.
Absolutely amazing. I love the shoe and boot area. My boots and shoes are in a very large old suitcase.
That is really cool. I also have a "man-cave" to store my stuff in.
GIIIIIRL!
This is straight up awesome!
As a lover of all things aesthetic and all things acceptance, this is pure brilliance
and an utterly wonderful representation of you and your confidence and your truly beautiful relationship.
Congratulations on being outstandingly cool!
(ps. When I get a new house, I want to set up my wardrobe like the freaking batcave - showcasing every outfit
like a museum of crime-fighting iconography, haha!)
Nice closet now it's time to play.
I can only dream of a supportive wife and a Cheryl closet. Good for you!
Nothing to be sorry for there...have room for expansion???
Fortuneta
Wow what a beautiful closet, if I had a closet like that I would never want to come out.
I enjoy being a boy, being a GIRL like me!!!
Very Nice! you did a great job! I would love to have something like that down in our basement. I have been thinking of finding something that I could put all of this in down there but haven't had any luck so far
Flip Flops were made for Beaches & Bath Houses, We have neither in 2017. Lose the flip flops!
flatlander_48, I know just what you're saying. I was about to fire up Solidworks then I found Ikea has a closet builder. Had every drawer and shelf laid out before a single order was placed.
Kristyn, that's exactly the system I went with. I definitely recommend it.
Thank you all for the compiments. It's been great having a single place foe everything.
I have a John Lewis Home system that I bought online. I don't believe we have an Ikea within 150-200 miles. Anyway, HomeDepot sells them and they're all wood, but they don't sell all of the specialized pieces. I wound up buying them from a store in Michigan. The JLH folks supply a gridded clear plastic film to be used as a planning tool, but that's it. I have a U-shaped arrangement with high and low shelves/rails on 2 of the 3 sides. Out of the 5 shelf and rail sections, 4 had to be cut to length. Definitely didn't want problems with that! Once I drew up all of the pieces in SolidWorks, I assembled them in a few ways until I found an arrangement I liked. I even got their iPad viewer running and used that as something I could carry into the closet for visualizing in place.
There is that old adage about:
Measure Twice, Cut Once.
In these modern times, I would amend that to:
Design Once, Measure Twice, Cut Once.
However, I did make one interesting discovery. I needed to make a number of fine, smooth and splinter-free cuts to get the lengths I needed. I found a tool called a Japanese Pull Saw with a high tooth count. As it works on the pull stroke, there's no chance of any wobbling or off-axis cutting. Makes nice, very smooth, accurate cuts.
