Maybe outed by a laptop !!

I spent yesterday having some dress up fun and taking a few pics for the picture section !
I managed to download them into my Teresa folder but when I selected Photoshop to edit them it wouldn't open ! So I tried reinstalling PS it wouldn't load ! Dick Dastardly impression !
OK tried loading PS onto my wife's laptop, fine , managed to get the files downloaded and edited ! I then loaded the edited pics back onto my memory stick to put them back in my computer, all went OK ! I left the laptop running and it went into random picture mode, OH **** all my images came up in movie mode !!
I had deleted the images out of the PS sub folder, so where were they coming from ? Went back and found the files still there, deleted them again and the sub folder, also emptied the recycle bin . I think they've gone but I know from previous experience they are lurking somewhere ready to amuse or frighten the next user, namely my wife !!

Am I worried, I guess not what's the worse that can happen ? So the dam lap top may out me !!

Teresa, I see an opportunity where you see a problem.

You've said that your wife is aware of your crossdressing but does not want to talk about your needs. Here is an opportunity to open a discussion and move toward normalization of your crossdressing.

In a casual conversation today, mention that you had technical problems with your computer while processing some photos and that you borrowed hers. Tell her that you made every effort to clean up after you were done and you are confident that you left it in the same condition as you found it. However, she should let you know if she stumbles across any CD photos. You will make sure they are all gone, even if that requires taking it to a specialist for repair.

Nothing really disappears. Beware if you take your computer in for servicing. Beverley is dead right about being "outed" using the Internet. Unless I totally log out of the session their is always some vestige of my viewing on other sites. Sidebar top up ads appear on games sites trying to lure me back to some dot com to buy that dress I was looking at. Amazon and eBay constantly trying to lure me back to something I viewed even after clearing the session. How distressing it may be when you have a friend or family member looking over your shoulder and you log on to Amazon and find the "lure" of the items you looked at days ago. When I am on eBay I after I peruse feminine wardrobe items I view other male dominated interest so the next time I log on it will ask me if I am still interested in Tamiya tank models rather than that cute Vanity Fair bra. One's privacy is really compromised these days for the sake of selling us something.

I almost had the same thing happen last week. It wasn't until my guests left that Monique's last wonderful transformation photos popped up.

As far as the possible security leak, I have found that my spouse has never discovered any of my pix on line

You can do a complete search for *.jpg* on your c\: and see if you find any images in the search. Then you can navigate to that folder and delete them. Although deleting only opens that section up for re write, it is unlikely that the pictures will just pop up.

Or as suggested, you can use the opportunity to open up to your wife.

There are still a few things you can do to maximize the privacy of your files:

- use the private mode in your browser (Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox) to navigate website related to crossdressing. This way, no history, URL, files, cookies, etc. are stored after you leave the browser
- do not store images in the Documents or Pictures folders, or on the desktop. Those are easy targets for many software and malware, and are used by software like screensaves. Always use a directory that is either on a different drive (like D: ) or on an external drive
- when you use Photoshop, always make copies of the images you want to edit first, work on those copies and save them in their final destinations, then delete the copies (that will prevent you from accidentally delete the original, and if you have images left in the Recent Files list, they are not accessible anymore)

Stephanie and Viny, thanks for you advice, I will check them out ! I have to find out why my PC won't load Photoshop, I might try uninstalling and then reload it but take the precaution of saving files I want to keep !

Wonderful photo, great outfit on you! These high tech times are scary, concerning our privacy. Maybe good for helping catch criminals, but scary in exposing personal things of law abiding people! I remember when it was said, that computers and high tech would make life simpler and easier. Yes and no!

Hi Teresa,

I think you need to search for *.psd (photoshop document) files for Photoshop. This is the programme's standard file format.

There are so many ways to skin a cat in Windows or MAC that you are bound to leave a footprint somehow. Sod's Law as they say. At least if you uninstalled Photoshop from your wife's machine, she won't be able to view the files without some effort on her part. God bless computers eh?

Being out to my immediate family makes it so much easier. If you log onto my laptop and see what you didn't really want to...."touch luck",..she said, attempting to keep it clean.

Don't forget if deleting files, to clear the recycle bin. For secure deletion, obtain software which "wipes" the files - that is to overwrite the disk data with new information. Once deleted, recovery is, for practical purposes, not possible. For secure storage, why not encrypt the files/folders.

I have an app on my laptop that automatically cleans my history, cookies, search results etc. When I close chrome.
I also recommend ccleaner. Does the same thing but for your whole hard drive. And any files deleted with ccleaner are gone forever if you use a heavy security overwriting protocol.
My old cellphone almost betrayed me last week when I opened the browser and one of my short skirt pictured popped up without warning at the dinner table, thank god for my lighting fast reflexes.
