For your first time out I would recomend jeans. They are the norm for women shopping and you dont need the added stress of trying to navigate this new experience in a skirt. You can try that on your next outing.
I learned a decent walk by trying to keep my thighs touching while I walked. And dont look down, keep your head up and smile. Females generally smile more than males.
