    Very surprised

    Hi Girls

Last week I came out to my sister. She is 8 years older than me. I have waited almost a year for this day to come, but every time i thought I was ready to tell her, I backed out. Somehow you can feel you are ready to tell your family, but when the day arrives it just doesn't feel right. This time it felt right so I just told her.

She is a great and supportive sister. She had questions and wanted to see some pictures, but after we talked it though she was ok with it, very surprised but OK.

Sometimes we are waiting and struggling way to long to get it out, but in the end it's about being ready, why does that take so long ?. There is a lot of great people out there, that are so supportive and understanding. It's a great feeling not being alone with it anymore. I will decently not wait that long with my next sister. Then there is only 3 sisters and one brother left :-)) Puhhh... long journey

Just wanted to tell a great story with a big light in the end :-)

    Hugs and kisses
    Henriette

Congratulations on making a scary step successfully. I also note that you are from the country of my great grandfather. If that is you in the avatar, another congratulations on how lovely you are.

Congratulations on finally talking to her. I came out to my mom and then my sister about a year ago. And they was a lot more accepting of it then I thought they would be. Makes you wonder why we waited so long. Now my brothers are a different story all together. I haven't been that brave yet.

From as far as I can remember I am very close to my cousin, and my wife has her like a sister. On one occasion the both of us were enjoying a beautiful summer day on the deck, and this feeling came over me to tell her. I don't know why but the feeling was very strong, I believe it was because we do talk a lot about our private and personal problems and felt like I could have trusted her. I don't know what come over me to tell her, it was a wired feeling even thinking about it out of nowhere. Well at least you told your sister I didn't tell my cousin.

My sister is just plain mean. She would never accept. Wonderful that you could talk to her about it.

Good for you Henriette, your sister sounds really great to be so accepting, I agree with you it does seem to take forever to come out to others, I've only told my Mother so far and that took years!! Like your site by the way.

    Hi Henriette,

I am so glad to hear your sister was very supportive. I guess we are reticent to tell others because this is a very personal secret to share and one which society has deemed . . . shall we say odd. As such we are never sure how others will take it. I am out completely, family, friends, work colleagues and each time I tell someone it is like a coin toss (heads they will be fine / tails not so much). I generally find that it is "heads" more than "tails".

    Hugs

    Isha
