I have legally changed my name

I went to see a solicitor in Tamworth (Staffordshire, England) this afternoon

I entered the building as plain old Phillip James Bryant, signed a piece of paper, watched the solicitor sign the same piece of paper, paid my fee, and left the building with the legal name Susan Gina Foreman!

Strange thing is...I don't feel any different!!!!!

*Oh, if you are wondering, I have been using the name Susan Jackson since I started dressing, back in the early 70's. When it came to making it legal, I had a change of heart, and became Susan Foreman. If any fans of 'Doctor Who' are reading this, you may remember that Susan Foreman was the name of the Doctors very first companion when the show started in 1963

    Hi Susan

Well done, I'm sure your new name will make you feel a lot different when the mail comes along addressed in your
new name and every time you are called out by your new name it will feel different

    Good luck and best wishes

A pleasure to meet you Ms Foreman. It really isn't noticeable until you get out in the world and people start calling you by that name. I remember sitting in a doctors office and the nurse called out for the next patient. Jorja Dewitt she called. Everyone looked around at each other. Then it dawned on me, that was my new name.

Congratulations, Susan! It must be great to finally get rid of that old persona.

Heh, I recently had the exact opposite happen to me. I'm living pretty much off the grid, so my feminine (but not yet legal) name is all I hear. A few weeks ago I had to go to a bank. It took me a while to remember that person they were calling was supposed to be me.

Being somewhat humble (really?) should I now tug my forelock to the lady foreman?

Pardon me Susan, it was rude of me not to add my congratulations in my earlier post.

Thank you for all your kind comments and welcomes!

Today was the first opportunity I had to go into town, and visit the bank and my GP to inform them of my change of name, and to alter my records

When I got to the bank, I spoke to the lady, and showed her my change of name documents and my psychiatrist letter, conforming I was transitioning

After she had changed the information on the computer, she looked at me and asked: "So, are you a Miss or a Ms"?

I was in jeans, t-shirt, no make-up and a bit of stubble on my face

    "Miss", I told her

    "Miss it is", she replied"!
