    Curious question.

My wife is as accepting as anyone could possibly wish.

I have some - very few - residual guilt problems about being CD.

Couple of years ago, I dressed fairly often, and then I lost the plot - in the sense that I started to eat and drink too much - and my weight and girth balooned. To the extent that I thought I just do not want to see this fat old git with false boobs, false teeth, and glasses in the mirror,

Thankfully, I THINK I'm back in control - but I do NOT want to dress until I can get into a UK size 18.

    Thoughts, anybody?

I totally get that! Now you have excellent motivation to get down to a girlish figure. By the way, how lucky you are to have such a wonderful wife!

If I waited to dress until I've reached a certain goal, I'd probably go stir crazy.

It would be an incentive, for sure, but as slow as it comes off, I could not wait that long.

Yes ! I have felt this way too , after quitting smoking I put on 30lbs. I looked pregnant , when I dressed . I am trying to get into the gym thing and eating right . One day at a time, think thin ! Make sure the mirror is not one of those magnification kind ! I wish you all the luck

    Amanda,
Sometimes the guilt problems do hit us in the face, life is running smoothly then an out of place comment triggers some old feelings !
I find it frustrating the time it takes for thing to settle again, for me I possibly don't eat in your case you binged !
The one consolation I have is my 12/14 size is going to go down rather than up .

Amanda do you mind if I ask what brought on the guilt feeling ?

    Hi Amanda,

I know the feeling very well. Overweight and by consequence, under bothered about anything. So much has been happening in my life, but things are really on the turn now, I hope yours is similarly fantastic. Must be difficult to cope where you are? ☺

I've been to Seville once with the RAF and loved the place, alcohol fuelled etc. etc., but want to go with my wife next time.

I found an easy fix by simply getting rid of my mirrors. Now I always look the way I want to look, in my mind, anyway.

There's an addendum at post # 82 on that thread, too. It's about a ten minute read.
Why don't we understand our desire to dress, behave and feel like a girl? Because from childhood, boys are told that the worst possible thing we can be, is a sissy. This feeling is so ingrained into our psyche, that we will suppress any thoughts that connect us to being or wanting to be feminine, even to the point of creating separate personalities to assign those female feelings into.

I did the opposite of Lexi. Looking in the mirror and seeing what I consider to be a shapely woman was and is my motivation to change my eating habits. Oh sure, I can diet when I need to drop a few pounds in a few days. But, in the long run diets do not work.

The only way to lose weight and keep it off is by changing what and how u eat and drink. Gradual loss is the safe and sure way to do it. Even if you're losing 1/2 pound a week, you're going in the rite direction!

U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.

Challenge yourself and pursue your passions! When your life clock runs out, you'll have few or NO REGRETS!

Amanda, I think women's clothing tends to be more body revealing so weight gain shows more. Get on a bike and shed the pounds.

Thanks folks for the replies. I'm doing reasonably well - lost 23 pounds since January - but still can't get into the Size 18! Thanks for the support - it helps!

    Hi Amanda,

I think that we tend to fall victim to the same beauty standards that women fall victim to in that we settle on an ideal weight/presentation and when we no longer look like we want to, then we can fall into a bit of fugue. I think once you get down to your weight of choice and fit your size 18 you will be fine.

    Hugs

OMG!! You have this already?? Start concentrating on your health. It's just real easy. Change your diet and your attitude. You'll love your whole self.
I've waited so long for this time. Makeup is so frustrating. Shaking hands and I look so old. This was a mistake.
My new maid's outfit is cute. Sure fits tight.
And then I step into the bedroom and in the mirror, I see a beautiful woman looking back at me.
    Smile, Honey! You look fabulous!

I did the same thing when I came back from a 7 year purge.....I wanted to get back to my original size ( or at least slim down a bit ) before I actually started dressing cause I knew if I saw myself I would get upset....so I spent the first few months back re-learning makeup, finding the right wig etc, while I ate right, and worked out...it was good motivation anyway and eventually the weight came off. good luck xoxo

My former girlfriend was older, a bit heavy, and had false teeth... and I loved her just the same. Don't be so hard on yourself, no one is perfect.

its a great motivation to eat well, not the kind of starve diet that you will eventually rebound from. The 5/2 fasting option is really good, i am very conscious of eating lightly when i have an opportunity to dress. its all part of being a gurl i guess!
