    Transition in Place

Well, I have done it! I have transitioned "in place". I never thought I would do that...in a million years. It's not that I didn't think I could: I just didn't think about it. But then, I assumed I'd be in the Midwest forever...not in California and certainly not working for a bank I'd never heard about before in a place unknown to me. Today was my first day...and it was just like ever other day...except I was ME!!! I ended up telling my story personally to 90 people in mandatory training sessions. I had great support from people. And on the first day today, people were wonderful.

I wondered why I haven't done this years ago. And yet, the pieces were not in place until today.

    So...it CAN be done.

    Have faith.

-Stephanie C (well, in August the spelling will change...just a bit.)

Congratulations on your new job, new home and new State. Now all you need to do is change your location next to your name here to California and all your new documentation is complete. Well, not complete but almost. Congrats again.

    Boom.

I moved to the Bay Area for the express purpose of dealing with my 'issues'.

There's no way I would have had the seeds to come out as anything in Bakersfield.

I am Proud of You for doing it, An I also am in a Situation kinda the same but I always do the Most insane things like this so it doesn't surprise my Twisted Mind to see someone else doing the same thing.

Coming out in Place is a Hard Thing and a Hard Row to Tow that's for sure, An where I live even harder, But I am always up for a Challenge also, Hard headed folk and Lack of Education or even wanting to be is the hardest to deal with. But maybe after it's all said and done You and Me will have Paved the road for future generations not to be afflicted with all the problems of our past and it will be common to see someone changing genders?

I really do commend you for courage and the will to fight , I just hope I am up for it and don't run out of gas half way through the process,,lol,,,

Congrats Stephanie! It does take a great amount of courage, but I bet the burden that has been lifted is huge!!! Glad you can now truly be you and live your life.

I am a bit of a way from that. My boss knows and we have a date when it will all happen, so we are beginning to formulate the plan and communication strategies etc.

    Good for you!!

Stephanie, in place or not, you are now there. The "in place" part may bring extra to you as you keep parts of your life you wanted to. I wish we could bottle up some of that support from the first day. I got tied in a lot of meetings, so I saw more people the second day. But the first day stories are well remembered. Congratulations and may days 2 and on bring just as big a smile.

Congratulations, Stephanie! I came out at work last Monday, and still letting the people in the plant know as I see them. In a small Iowa town, it's surprising how almost everyone has wished me well, and promised support. The only hater quit today.

    Hugs, Sister,

Thanks all for your comments! The week turned out to be...normal! There were the times when people slipped on the name but I know they were really trying. The other guys told me that had clothes envy and I talked more than usual about clothes and hair. Otherwise, it was business as usual. EXCEPT, I could go to lunch, have friends stop into work for a visit, and go to the farmer's market directly after work.

Next week, I fly to our LA office, my first visit after the change. And my paperwork is not done yet so my ids may not sync with my appearance. Just one more step on the journey.

    I am blessed.
