Another 1st time, nerve racking event for me....

    So I did another 1st!

We had our annual Pride Parade this weekend. However the day before folks at city hall decided to raise the Transgender flag for 1 day prior to Parade day. WOO HOO!!!!!!!!! In addition to that there was an independent MARCH for the Trans/Dyke folks so I decided I needed to go down and see what this pre parade march was all about. I got ready Saturday morning and made it there just in time when they were starting to walk. I parked the car and ran up to where they had 5 police vehicles waiting to go in front of us and stopping traffic at intersections. I had a friend in there that was walking too and as I approached them starting to go down the street I jumped in beside my friend. We both were RIGHT behind the mega phone and the chanters.... I saw some TV cameras and I have to admit I looked the other way as I walked by and as we went enroute for 10 city blocks yelling away. As we marched down the streets people stopped looked, some were angry some were ok with it but there were also other media cameras taking pictures. 2 guys were running up to people taking close up shots and I wasn't feeling good about it. In the end I did it and I said to my friend that tried to keep me grounded, "I wonder if I will be on TV?" My friends answer was, "probably but don't worry nothing will come of it." In the end I know I'm playing with fire but I also know in my heart I must support my cause if we are to ever make changes. I'm glad I did it.

    Cheers gang

That sounds like you had a lot of fun! Maybe next year I'll be able to go to our local pride celebration. I'm sure just being out was a wonderful experience. <3

Well this part was not fun because the march was so small all by itself. I really had a hard time being there and I wasn't able to start chanting with the others and be on the local TV stations, I just couldn't do it. Now afterwards was a different story.... Heck I went to a party with over 1500 people celebrating pride until 3 am. Had to take a cab home and passed out in the back on the way with the driver waking me saying sir we are here. I didn't correct him and say listen jerk off I'm in a dress and not a SIR you stupid F_#%. LOL

Well, the important thing is that you stood up and joined the march. Thank you.
