Most counselors like to talk to potential clients before seeing them. This is what mine did years ago. You get out of therapy what you put into it. Basically you do most of the talking and use them as a sounding board. They will interject if they feel they need to. They are not pro or con to the issue, that is what you decide for yourself. You as the client have to decide what is best for yourself. When I went in it wasn't about if CDing was right or wrong, I had no problem with who I was. I went to try and figure out how to deal with friends and family who DID have a problem with it. In the long run, I realized I could be both Dad and Ericka without a problem and it was my choice who I wanted to be at any given time. Still is. This works well for myself anyway.
