Growing up in West Texas, I kind of know a little about boots, the heel on those adorable boots is what could be called a riding heel, it is longer than a walking heel and sloped a little forward to hold your foot in the stirrup better.
This is actually true for cowboy boots. I'd say in a pinch, it could apply to those as well.
