    Today's conversation

My wife had to run some errands and recommended it would be faster for her if I would drive her and that would save her time looking for parking. Of course she cut me the deal that I could bring her around dressed. I was wearing a wrap dress and with every drop off the dress was opening a little more exsposing a little more slip. At one point she gets in the car and said to me that I'm a figment of my own imagination of how I want to view women and that I'm locked in the past. I asked her what she was talking about and she told me that she doesn't understand what's with the slip. She said she's not a man but if she was she would rather see those beautiful legs under that material instead of seeing slip. She asked me to try to make her understand what is it about the slip that drives me crazy. She reminded me that when we we're dating I could have walked into a room full of women with mini skirts and heels and I would glance but if I seen one inch of slip it would drive me crazy. I told her when I was younger it was a undergarments, not meant to be seen and when seen it was like you were seeing something you weren't supposed to see. Now women walk around almost naked and there is no imagination left for the eye. I told her I remembered when I was younger and I seen a bra strap and I couldn't get home fast enough to masterbate before I lost the image in my head. The slip was the forbidden fruit and I remember on the way home from a wedding my father was yelling at my mother because at one point of the night her slip was showing. There was a myth that back in the day a women would show her slip if she was single and looking for a man. My wife then tells me she remembers when I told her about the dressing that all I would do is wander around wearing slips and pantyhose and believes it's the slip that got me to were I am today. I told her the bottom line is I enjoy how they feel and a beautiful reminder of when a women dressed so that we had to use our imagination. She told me she still doesn't understand the power of the slip, she would wear them back then so you couldn't see threw the dress and doesn't remember if it was showing drawing any attention. She said one day she will bring it up when there are other men present and see how they feel about it. Thought I would share what our discussion of the day was. I guess I better get out of the past and start wearing less clothes like other women

I'm with your wife on this one...I don't feel any magic when wearing a slip, although I'll wear a half slip if I'm wearing a skirt that isn't lined and needs to be a bit more opaque

I'm with wife. I can see pantyhose and thigh high, you call them hold ups, but slips are a no go. Maybe a half slip but only if it is freezing and I need another layer of warmth. Rather than slips, why not experiment with designer nylons. Might be fun.

I still like wearing either a full slip or half when the weather is cool - rarely wear slips in the summer unless the slip is cotton and the dress fabric is thin.

Women obviously don't dress like yesteryear....if anything I observe jeans and pants suits... Practical is the word of the day. It is us, crossdressing that we perpetuate the older styles... For example my girlfriend hates wearing bras....
Escapism isn't necessarily bad, but is definitely unhealthy in the long term. While helpful in the short term, things will degrade over time. At some point, the escapee will have to face the issue. Things simply blowing over isn't really going to happen in many situations.

I'm with Maria. I always wear a slip, either full or waist, and have been doing so for almost sixty years. I asked my 86 year old cousin, recently, if she wore a slip and she replied yes if my skirt or dress needs one.

Think its personal preference Maria. Also the nostalgia from our childhoods when it all started. As others have pointed out the more mature of us have great affection for them.

Slip girl here for sure the only time I do not wear either a half or full slip is when I wear a light weight sundress.

Women don't dress like they did in the past, but neither do men. If you're going to live in today's world, you have to dress like today's woman (or man).

As a practical matter, you will come much closer to "passing" as a woman if you dress like other women.

I tend to agree with your wife. Honestly, I consider slips to be an anachronism. I do not recall either of my wives wearing slips, and that goes back to the mid 70s. And the concern about a slip showing sounds positively archaic.

Marie, You know it is a fetish and there is nothing wrong with that. You do a nice job of explaining how many of us developed fetishes for feminine underthings. Sometimes the power of these items never goes away and once we wear them ourselves, we cannot get enough. You are fortunate to have a wife who accepts this part of you. My wife knows that I prefer her to be in charge. She accepts this about me and makes it fun while getting a lot of chores done. Nothing wrong with that either! I love it that she had you drive her around for her errands while you were dressed. I would have enjoyed that tremendously! Nancy

Maria, I love slips as well and find them extremely sexy. I realize that is no longer on the modern list of sexy clothing. I mentioned on another thread yesterday, that I find Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof the height of sensuality.

I too love slips and the silky feel they offer, but I only wear 1/2 slips anymore and only when I'm wearing an unlined skirt.
If you were wearing a wrap dress and it was showing more and more slip it would have been much sexier showing more and more leg. Especially if you were wearing a garter belt and stockings. I've always thought that to be much sexier.

Ah slips....I can remember my grandmother and stepmother both having them and wearing them all the time. Being a young child, it was no issue for them to sometimes appear or walk out of the bathroom back into the bedroom to finish dressing. As I got older, it was easy since grandma hand washed all of her undergarments and hung them in the bathroom to dry and of course, we took baths everyday as children, making access very very easy. So I grew up with slips, both full and half, and made sure that I have one or two in my closet. I forgot all about them as I didn't remember to wear them, and now I have to go and look! Thank you for the memories....

I never dress in a skirt or dress without a full or half slip on .Just love the look and feel of it .My wife on the other hand doesn't even own one.Of course I make up for that and own around a dozen or so.
If I knew where it was going to take me I probably would have put my mother's panties back.

Maria, when you and your wife have nothing to do watch Elizabeth Taylor in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." I'm with you as to too many women these days letting their boobs hang out of their tops; even news commentators. Go to the grocery store and what do I see? Breast all over the place. Personally, I am a slip lover. That was my entry "drug" way back in my youth. It carried into adulthood. I guess there is an entirely different mindset these days. I remember the 1970's and 1980's when there were racks on pretty lacy slips that rotated through the seasons and holidays; Valentine's Day, pinks and reds; Christmas, reds; fall, dark green, browns; spring, pastel colors. Women wore them as substitutes for nightgowns. Look at the advertisements of the time; they were pure sex. Now? Try finding a pretty slip at retail. Nadda, nil, zip. It's the same with nightgowns at retail. I suppose way back when, the female body was forbidden fruits. Now, on-line porn and boobs hanging out all over leaves nothing to the imagination.

Personally, I love wearing a slip under my dresses, whether lined or unlined. What's the big deal about wearing a slip if one chooses to do so? Is there any reason a woman cannot wear patterned hosiery or pantyhose with a slip under her dress? Black dress, black heels and black hosiery, black panty? I suppose, Maria and I, would be driven crazy if a woman wore a bridal white lacy slip under a back dress; especially if she were sitting down across from us.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned but the feel of a slip against freshly shaved skin is exquisite to me! I also think the dress or skirt, for me anyway, fits better when wearing a slip. My mom wore them, but my sister never did, so I guess I pick this up from mom! And...mother is always right...right?

    Enjoy your fetish, Maria!

Even tho I grew up with slips on women, my only excitement came from removing them from the girls I dated!

Like the women of today I find them to be a pointless nuisance. Since most dresses come with lining anyway!

Wait a minute. Regarding dressing in slips. I can walk around the house in a bra and panty set all I want but until I pull that full length slip over my head and look in the mirror I do not feel like a woman.

Visually a slip hides some of the problem areas on your body from view and give me the full silhouette from breast past my bottom to the mid thigh that tells me I am a woman.

Then I have the added benefit of wearing dresses with no lining to be more modest in my appearance. So, Do I go crazy when I see a woman in a slip? Well, if it is Elizabeth Taylor in A CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF I do, but otherwise not really. It is a me thing.

Slip lover here. And like Natalie, I often lounge around in a full slip over my bra w/forms and panties. A lovely feeling.

Maria, I get it. From my "birth" gender i guess. My wife rolls her eyes too. She doesn't even like to wear nylons these days. I'm not trying to be difficult. I like stuff. If you don't want to wear it that's totally cool. But I may want to. Maybe it's the punk-rebel in me. IDK. ...but I do own a ton of slips. I just like'em........
So I like dressing like girl. BIG DEAL!

Sorry I don't even own a slip, and at this point do not plan to purchase one, unless it is required by a future purchase of a dress or skirt to protect my modesty. Like so many have said before me times have changed and my philosophy is to dress to blend with what women wear today based on the venue and time of day.

Back in the day, slips were worn for a reason, as Jill said. Lightweight dresses and skirts were not to be worn without a full- or half-slip beneath. It was a modesty thing. So, some of us older girls still follow those rules. And they feel so nice, too.

I love the feel of a slip, and it is practical when wearing a dress made of thin material.
