Went to my wife's hairdresser (at her suggestion)

I've been growing my hair out to be more feminine, because I am not interested in the trouble or expense of wigs. I've been going to a haircutter/hairdresser for a while, and have even gone dressed, but a couple of weeks ago my wife suggested I use *her* hairdresser. When she went to get her hair cut and explained my situation to (we'll call her) Suzy, telling her I needed a cut that could be femmed up, but wouldn't look too girly in man mode.

So my wife made the appointment, and suggested I go dressed and that we go out for drinks after the appointment, since it was for 6 PM.

It couldn't not have gone better! [Suzy] was super nice, the salon is very accepting of everyone (a male stylist has a huge mohawk). She trimmed my hair, added some curl mousse, and gave me a ton of advice on what to do to glam it up, or man it down :-). She is definitely better than my old stylist.

Then we went out for a drink at a craft cocktail bar and walked around the downtown area. It was a very good day, and as always, I am hugely grateful to my wonderful wife.

I wore my new favorite skirt with little pink and blue polka dots and a dark blue top, black sandals, and gold jewelry, with a minimal amount of makeup (all that I can manage :-) ).

Very good. I had a experience like this. My wife suggested I use her stylist.

Ok, I go and we chat. Before you know it we are dyeing my hair light brown with blonde highlights. I kept it for about 2 years, nice and long too.

It got expensive to spend $100 every 3 months to get the roots done. Being a girl is not for the faint of heart.

    Go Glam or Go Home.

The "trouble and expense of wigs", Joan? What u spent on one hairdresser appointment I could buy 2 or 3 nice wigs that will last the rest of my life!

I keep them in plastic bags so they don't get messed up. They take all of 3 minutes to put on and brush!|

I wash my hair 4 times a week. I'll wash my favorite wig twice a year at most!
U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.

Challenge yourself and pursue your passions! When your life clock runs out, you'll have few or NO REGRETS!

While it would be nice to grow my natural hair our and not have to wear a wig, I continue wearing a wig as "Krisi" because it helps to conceal my real identity when out in public. Homer has short grey hair, Krisi has shoulder length blonde hair and bangs.

If I (or my wife) didn't care or I was living as a woman, I would grow my hair out and color it. But, I have to live with reality so a wig it is. Wigs are not that much trouble or expense.

Wow! I don’t think I could get myself to do that. I would love to but you have to be pretty out there to do that. I admire your confidence.

Finally managed to get a picture to illustrate my story. I'm loving my longer hair, and I swear I get "ma'am"ed more often.

Joan: It appears to me like your wife loves you very much. She went to all the trouble to take/go with you to her hairdresser. To top it off, both of you went out for drinks and window shopping. Great to hear your story.
