Generalizing is usually a bad idea, but I am going to fall into that trap.

I feel that generally those that are opposed to FaceAp and the like are those that already go out in public or have confidence in themselves and their appearance and makeup skills. Thus, FaceAp is unnecessary and pointless and fakery and evil or at minimal looked down on and you can?t take FaceAp into the real world, etc..

On the other hand, those of us that are truly closeted and don?t have the time or abilities to become proficient with makeup and are literally only presenting their fem self to themselves and not the public, enjoy the fantasy of what we COULD look like or WANT to look like and the Apps fulfill that desire. Yes, it may be considered cheating or a cop out or a shortcut, but that is a personal choice and if the actions are only for ourselves, what is the harm? The Apps essentially become a form of crossdressing or fulfill a similar need. I had never played with one of these or FaceAp in particular until I had read about it on this site. There are many of us that for various reasons are not comfortable posting actual images of ourselves on a public website. FaceAp and the like allows for some remaining anonymity. I suspect there are very few people ( on THIS forum, but plenty on other forums/sites) that are intentionally trying to fool anyone or generate false positive feedback for self promotion reasons ( despite that being the attitude that some may feel is the reason)

My thoughts on FaceAp had been posted before, but as long as it is labeled and clear it has been used ( as are the rules) I personally see no problem with it. I kind of felt like this second grouping was being drowned out by the first and wanted to at least try to provide a voice to the other perspective.

As was already stated by another poster, this is just my opinion, not gospel, nor does it invalidate or make anyone else?s opinion wrong.

I have no problem with members using FaceApp for their avatar, I don't really care about avatars, many are fictional characters anyway.
As for FaceApp in the pictures gallery, that's different. In my opinion its use should always be mentioned, to avoid inducing unrealistic expectations for some of us and generating frustration and distress. Other than that I have no issue with it. I just observe that these trained AIs tend to make people look a bit all the same.
I never used it but confess that I am curious what it'd make me look like. But two problems there. First, it wouldn't be me. And second, I already look so absolutely fantastic in girl mode (my avatar is proof of that, warning it's been slightly edited) that I can't see how it could possibly make me any better.

I'm not against Faceapp totally I just don't see the point in posting pics with it because it is not really you. I have some pics using Faceapp which I think are stunning ( excuse the modesty) but unless someone specifically wanted to see them I wouldn't post them I would just look at them and wish I really looked like that.

Di, I've enjoyed all of the comments you've gotten so far. It gave me a lot to think about. I personally am not opposed to ladies here using feminizing software like FaceApp, especially if it makes them feel better about themselves and their appearance. After all for most CDs this is a fantasy, so why not indulge? I do believe that those using such apps should be honest with the members when they show feminized pictures of themselves, however. I know that I wouldn't use such apps to alter my appearance to the extent that is seen on some. I do admit that I use PhotoShop to make minor alterations, mostly resizing, color enhancing, etc. where I feel it makes a truer representation of what was seen in real life. The only other exception to this is that I brighten my teeth in the photos. I drink a lot of tea which makes them look a bit dingy.

As for a theme thread I'm not much help since I don't show a lot of photos other than new avatar and profile photos. I know that I'd enjoy seeing such a thread appear on the forum.

I just love Face app, like crossdressing it's all fantasy and fun.
I understand I'm not now nor will I ever be a woman. I think if you use Face app you should say it in your post, that said I think it's funny that a cross dresser would object to face app because to me it's all fantasy.
I probably wouldn't participate in a Theme thread in the gallery but it would be fun to see what others do.

Not objective about my own face, but I did a lot of FaceApp when the egg was about to cracking, and found that a few years of HRT and some makeup got me pretty close to the same look I got from genderswap pics from “before”.

My disagreement with faceapp, even though I have used it, is that it sets unrealistic beauty standards. It makes your eyes bigger, it changes bone structure etc. It isn't as simple as just putting makeup on you - look closer and you'll see how it moves your eyes around in a way that isn't possible with surgery.

Women complain about photoshopped models setting unrealistic beauty standards, and here we are doing the same and saying "who does it hurt?" - well who does it hurt when big brands photoshop a waist, or breasts, or bum?

It's the same as touching up photos of models in advertisin. It gives an unrealistic expectation of how we should look. People can easily feel they don't look good enough. Like why can't I get my makeup right like she did? That's why I think it's important to say because then someone can look at it and not Feel as threatened by someone who looks 10 times Better.
