I'm only going to leave these tunes up for a couple of days though, I really don't want the BPI knocking on my door!
Too bad that the UK music police didn't get nullified like they did in Canada.

Some bright sparks here decided that we should pay some kind of levey/tax on blank media and MP3 players. The net result is that courts decided that since we pay the tax, music downloading is legal.

    Only in Canada eh!

Who noticed this, In bold, below. Beetles "Oh-blah-di"

Desmond has a barrow in the market place
Molly is a singer in a band
Desmond says to molly ’girl I like your face’
And molly says this as she takes him by the hand

Obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on
Obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on

Desmond takes a trolley to the jewellers stores
Buys a twenty carat golden ring
Takes it back to molly waiting at the door
And as he gives it to her she begins to sing

Obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on
Obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on

In a couple of years they have built
    A home sweet home
With a couple of kids running in the yard
    Of desmond and molly jones

Happy ever after in the market place
Desmond lets the children lend a hand
Molly stays at home and does her pretty face
And in the evening she still sings it with the band

Yes obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on
Hey obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on

In a couple of years they have built
    A home sweet home
With a couple of kids running in the yard
    Of desmond and molly jones

Happy ever after in the market place
Molly lets the children lend a hand
Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face
And in the evening she’s a singer with the band

Yeah obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on
Hey obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on

And if you want some fun take obladi-blada

    Another song

One more that i have just discovered is

    Rosie
By Joan Armatrading it is about a sth american TV

    Great song and fantastic lyrics

I bought her double album today to get this track (cant download from her site ) there are many very good songs on this album.
The track Rosie is from an EP called How cruel released in 1979. So Joan seems to have been way above other artists in that she would write songs that were a little off the wall.

She is an english singer but i think she made it over the other side of the pond.

    Love
    Laura

Yea, I've always liked it. Catchy, makes you want to sing along. And stays in the head.

Green Day (King for a day )

Started at the age of 4
My mother went to the grocery store
Went sneaking through her bedroom door
To find something in a size 4

Sugar and spice and everything nice
    Wasn't made only for girls
    GI Joe in panty hose
Is making room for the one and only

King for a day, Princess by dawn
King for a day in a leather thong
King for a day, Princess by dawn
Just wait 'til all the guys get a load of me

My daddy threw me in therapy
He thinks I'm not a real man
Who put the drag in the drag queen
Don't knock it until you tried it

    BEAUTIFUL SON Lyrics
    Artist(Band):Hole

You look good in my dress
I'll get your friends to clean the mess
You look good in my clothes
I can feel you where the doctor goes
    My beautiful son
    I know
He had ribbons in his hair
    And lipstick was everywhere
You look good in my dress
    My beautiful son
    I know
    You're burried like me
    You're burried
    I know
    My beautiful son

I was just listening to some ABBA and noticed that, although not about crossdressing, 'Does Your Mother Know?' does repeat the line "does your mother know that you're out" which somehow seems appropriate.

Incidently, she does know, in fact she's the only one who does (present company excepted).

just off to try it on and perhaps post a picture soon.

    my favorite is.......
    [Spoken:]
    Don't look at me

    Every day is so wonderful
And suddenly, it's hard to breathe
Now and then, I get insecure
From all the fame, I'm so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
    Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down
So don't you bring me down today

To all your friends, you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The piece is gone and the puzzle undone
    That's the way it is

You are beautiful no matter what they say
    Words won't bring you down
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words won't bring you down
Don't you bring me down today...

    No matter what we do
    (no matter what we do)
    No matter what they say
    (no matter what they say)
When the sun is shining through
    Then the clouds won't stay

    And everywhere we go
    (everywhere we go)
    The sun won't always shine
    (sun won't always shine)
But tomorrow will find a way
    All the other times

We are beautiful no matter what they say
Yes, words won't bring us down
We are beautiful no matter what they say
Yes, words can't bring us down
Don't you bring me down today

Don't you bring me down today
Don't you bring me down today

    Favorite CD Song

For me there are three, Walk on the Wild Side, Lou Reed, LOLA, The Kinks,
and DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LADY, Aerosmith(great video for this song).
A little history class, Almost everyone mentioned in walk on the wild side was a queen that acted in pop artist Andy Warhol films. Holly is Holly Woodlawn, Jackie is Jackiie Curtis, etc.........
Andy Warhol was also the producer for the band "The Velvet Underground" , Lou Reed was lead singer in this band. Walk on the wild side is a true story in song form from Lou Reeds association with Andy Warhol. I could write pages on this because the "girls" in the early Warhol films were my main inspiration (showing my age here), but in a nut shell that's the true story.
    Love you All,
    Vickie

    Cd Songs

Here I go again, just wanted to mention that the Warhol films and his casting of drag-queens way pre-dates the John Waters films (Pink Flamingo's etc...) starring DIVINE & MINK STOLE. Also Walk on the wildside, there is a lyric about Candy (in the backroom Candy was everbodies darling, she never lost her head even when she was giving head), This was Candy Darling, Warhols most famous and beautiful queen actress. Sad to say that she died at a very early age, and was buried in full drag. I will now shut-up!!
    Love,
