Stay up stockings for me, the ones with the elastic aroud the tops Otherwise it's pretty tough to keep em up.
I'm finally out and happy. By the way I look damn good in 3" heels too!
dont wear them ,the wife doesnt either.
Thigh highs hon. They are made to stay up without garter. Love the pretty lace at the top.

Stockings are made to be worn with garters. No other way to keep them up. Rubber bands cut off the circulation to your legs and run the stockings. (I tried that as a kid, back when I "borrowed" my mother's stockings and destroyed a pair).
Otherwise...
1. Never get out of bed. Keep your feet up in the air (good for tired feet) while you admire your beautiful legs (or if you have a partner...*edit*)
2. Hold them up with your hands. You don't get the illusion that your stockings go all the way to your waist (try pantyhose for that), but your legs look real nice. Until you have to blow your nose or drink a cup of coffee or something. Then, oops!

Talking for my husband, use the nylons that have a rubbery end. Hard to explain, but it has rubber like contour on the thights. They work great.
Get the self supporting ones, Walmart sels them...

Thigh High Stockings are, to me, absolutely the best. Now and then I like a regular pair of stocking with a garter belt, but for everyday wear I'll take a pair of thigh highs any time.
One thing to watch for though, is not all of them stay up all day long. You may have to adjust occasionally, (Oh darn, I have to pull up my stockings, cue the camera close up of pretty leg)
For me I've found that the Hanes Silk Reflections Thigh High seem to work best. In size EF. I'm 5'9" tall so they go all the up my legs. The problem with stocking is that they never seem to go high enough for me, and I end up having the inner part of my thighs rubbing together. (I know, I know, loose some more weight, I'm trying)
You can usually pick them up at any Hanes Bali Leggs factory outlet store. A three pack is about $10

i have no problem of them falling down
i got a white pair on now love them but i also love wearing nylons with a garter belt.
Thigh highs are great. If you have trouble with them riding down--try "It Stays" adhesive. A little dab will do ya!

Hi Carol, In answer to your post, simply put you can't!!!! Thigh highs with the elastic band or a silicaone based adhesive is the only way they stay up. I have used them but I prefer pantyhose.

I really used to like the nylons that needed a garter belt or girdle to hold them up. They somehow seemed ultra fem to me. When they started getting a bit harder to find in the stores, I switched to panty hose. They were ok and still are but I don't always like wearing them AND panties at the same time. But, when I found some resonably priced thigh high stay ups, I knew I had a keeper. That's pretty much the only kind I wear now.

WEll I'd be pretty intrugued myself Carol. Nylons have got to be worn with Garters surely, unless your on about tights, and if thats the case pop a pair of panties over the top of them as well as under. That stops that annoying droopy bit inbetween your legs.l

Hair Spray will help keep thigh highs up along with shaving or so I have heard.
I like gartar belts or pantyhose either one.They can both be uncomfortable in summer so I guess the answer is to try to stay in air conditioning if you can!
I have both the self supporting and those that require a garter belt. I prefer the garder belt for some occations but for comfort I prefer the self supporting hose, not to mention the lacy tops on some.

I walk on my hands so there is no problem. Gravity does the work. I live in Florida, so no panty hose for a while, so I wear thigh highs, or knee highs. As far as them slipping, every time I go to the potty, I adjust. No problem. Love and xxxx, Lily
