    Mistaken for GG

Have you ever been in a group of people who didn't realize you were CD?

A number of years ago, I went en femme to a club featuring female impersonators in Chicago, catering to a straight crowd. There were a number of couples waiting in the lobby for the next show. Several of the girls were oohing and aahing over how real the FI's looked in the pictures displayed on the walls. The guys were real skeptical, saying they could spot "one" every time. They were milling around me, not realizing I was "one". I finally lost my nerve and left. But how flattering...

    Hi Mitzi,

I can just imagine how you felt, over the moon. I would have been so thrilled and delighted, it would have made my day and year.

Happened once in a gay club in Blackpool, a GG approached me and said hi Julie, I responded with "sorry, my name's not Julie", she then said that she was sorry - but she thought I was her hairdresser (and she did confirm to me that her hairdresser was a GG too!).

I was on cloud nine all night until my drive home, when I had to stop at a motorway service station for petrol (gas for our American friends), put in an exact amount so that I didn't have to wait for change - after I paid, the guy behind the till said "thanks mate" !! down to earth with a bump!

    Hey Mitzi,

Yes, I have and I'm not surprised about you, you'd pass for a GG any time, any place.

I used to be Ricki and you referred me to your wig supplier.

A couple of months ago, my sister, wife, and I went to one of the casino's, just across the border of Texas into Oklahoma. We stopped for lunch on the way back, and the watriess kept saying, "Ladies" to us and I was in total drab at the time. Tickled my wife and I was on smiling on the inside big time. My sister sat there with a confused look on her face. My wife and sister don't know about my fem side, but wife kept teasing me on the way home. She kept refering to me in a fem way all the way home. I even got tickled after a while.

thing on my body I feel stops me from passing Im recieving compliments
about. That one compliment gave me a great level of confidence.

There is nothing better than having someone accept you for a female, whether enfem or drab. It is a blow to be read, but not the end of the world. There is too much living to do to worry about a few bumps as we go through life!

    Hi Mitzi,

Nope, can't say that I've ever had that experience, since I'm 6'5" and get clocked easily, but I'd like to see what it feels like.

I'd guess that the club you're talking about is the Baton, and it's a shame that you lost your nerve and missed seeing the show, as they put on a good show there.

The Baton used to be one of my favorite places to go when I lived in the city. That's one of the few places that I've been where I had to rub elbows with lots of straight folks, and I never had a bad experience there.

A good many years ago, I used to go nightclubbing with two cd friends, one definitely gorgeous, the other not so. More than once we were approached by guys who assumed we were two girls and a cd... and I've had the incredibly pleasure of saying "you realize I'm not a woman, right?" and watching the guy looking puzzled, if only for a second. Unfortunately, some discovered the truth as soon as they came in close distance. The fact those places were dark and brutally loud (so they could barely hear my voice) sure helped too. (not to mention that some of the gentlemen have had a few too many drinks...)

But those years are gone, and I had (still have) some serious trouble accepting they won't come back.

Paula (nee Ricki-B-Good ), thank you. I was so pleased that you had such a great experience at the wig shop.

Julogden, yes I believe it was called the Baton. It was located in a somewhat seedy neighborhood north of the Loop. This was some 20 years ago when I was in Chicago for a conference.

    Susanjane, thanks.

I used to pass pretty well when younger, but get more looks these days. It's a real boost of confidence when in a mostly straight but mixed crowd, someone you assumed knew you were a CD, hears your voice, and says "You're a guy?...

This past summer, I was in Warren, OH for girls night out. As I stepped out of my room, there was a guy in the hall. He gave a friendly
"hi", then quickly backed off. He said, I'm sorry maam, but I thought you were one of them, as he gestured to the room next to mine. I knew there were a couple sisters in that room. Kind of made me feel good. The pic below is from that night taken just outside my room.

Wow, I hope that sort of thing happens to me one day. At the moment, I reckon 9/10 people would read me - so to pass in a large group, would probably get me so excited that I'd say soemthing in a loud male voice, and blow my own 'cover' - lol
