    Getting a Late Start

Just wondering if anyone else started crossdressing kind of late. I didn't get serious about crossdressing until I was almost 40, I'm 42 now. I had the desire when I was a teen ager and even put my moms stockings on a few times but I fought the urges with all my might. The last thing I wanted was to be a "fag." All of these years I have wanted to crossdress and thought about it often but never acted on it seriously. Then one day a little over 2 years ago I decided that I wasn't going to fight it any longer and I got serious. Now it is a passion. I regret the wasted years and wonder how much fun I would have had if I had dressed seriously when I was younger but I guess you can't relive the past. I've finally accepted my desire to be fem and my desire to be with men. Are there any other ladies out there who started later? If so I'd love to hear from you.

Hi Kayla, Even though I was wearing my Mom's heels at 3 or 4, and her clothes at 13, i didn't give in totally to Cding 'till about 6 months ago. I was married for 30 years and spent them in the closet as my wife wouldn't understand. In May, I decidedto give in to who I am. My wife had passed in October, and my son was moving out to start his own life. About that time I found this site. What a blessing it has been! We can all play the "what if game". For me, I have today to enjoy myself, as I can't go back and change anything. Love and xxxx,Lily

I'm a lot like you, Kayla. I started about 8 or 9 and crossdressed some about 13-14. Then nothing until I was about 40. Then I started and it has been sloping up ever since.

I put on discarded pantyhose sometimes as a teen (and a few times since), but never for very long, and as far as I was concerned, it was curiosity about how it felt together with a "one-hander" of opportunity -- not an important part of my life.

I did not come up with the idea that I would like to actually wear womens' clothes until 25 months ago... but once I did have the idea, I progressed relatively rapidly, out in public in a skirt in less than a month. I could move that rapidly, because I had no thought that there was anything to "fight" the first 40-some-odd years -- at least, not more so than a lot of people will tell you that you should "fight" your instinct to view porn (or masturbate, or anything else to do with sex until you are married and actively attempting to procreate.)

It's only been a week for me, and I am 47! No desires prior to that, but it's raging right now. Still not sure if there was anything which triggered it - didn't really see it coming, didn't experience any gradual build-up. One day I started lusting for my wife's clothes, especially intimates, went to bed in some lacy panties and a hot red lace camisole, and the desires have been growing.

I have blown the budget big time with intimates purchases since last Thursday, and sitting in the office right now enjoying some of that under my work clothes.

    Hi Kayla,

To answer your question, no mine didn't start later in life. In fact, it started so early I do not remember not dressing! I wasn't as strong willed as you and wasn't able to withstand the ever present urgent compulsion to dress. I dressed every chance I got and then hated myself after each time, a very vicious cycle. I'm years past that now.

    late start

I have only started CD over 40 as well. been doing for 15 yrs and it is just lovely. I have not had a single thought that something was wrong with me even when I started so there was no struggle. It is fantastic to make up for "lost time" but I don't really think of it as such as I did too many exciting and wonderful things instead. Enjoy your fem life now luv. Kahlan

Even though I've been crossdressing since I was 8, it was on and off and only a few times fully dressed... All borrowed things. But 3 years ago something clicked and it was full steam ahead....I was 51... What a ride its been and like has been said, wish I'd started decades ago...

Hey Lily!! Love the new avatar!! What, no jeans? Finally come over to the dark side....I mean the fem side? Hehe

I aways dreamed of dressing but didn't dress fully until I was 50. My wife of 28 years figured out that this was something I wanted and got me started. At first it was just evenings, then before dinner, then all day weekends. Now I am retired and living ft at home. The feelings just keep getting stronger.

Kayla, it seems your story as a "late bloomer" is quite similar to mine, except I did not start the real CD activities until age 59. That was almost two years ago and I guess the time and the urge was right because at that time, I felt a very strong urge to "try" it again, after an approx. 44 yr hiatus. This time it has pretty much extended to wearing an entire outfit of women's clothing, jewelry and light makeup. Still no wig and can't say if that will happen.
As a teenager, I wore mom's stockings and girdles from about age 12 to 15 on a periodic basis, but never seemed to want to wear anything more during those early encounters. I considered CDing at that time to be a bit of "idle curiosity" and chalked it up to being just a phase.
I thought about CDing a few times over the years, but did not get up the nerve nor have the opportunity to begin again. I did try on pantyhose a few times during that hiatus, but that was all. But, the awareness and latent urge was never completely absent as I would periodically wonder what certain styles would look and feel like on me. Especially shoes.
I am completely closeted in my CDing activity and have no desire to share this delightful activity with my wife or any other family members because I do not want to in any way jeopardize a 38 year happy marriage.
Still, my urge to dress is met 2-4 times per week, as my wife is working and I am now retired.
    LOve,

It's been just over a year now, still learning constantly! Who'd have thought Tina would appear when he was 55?

    It still amazes us!

I have been dressing all of my life off and on but the past 6 or 7 years has really kicked in and i now dress full time. I also enjoy the company of men and in so doing have seen the problems that women have had with them. But that is life and i take the great with the lows.

And I thought I was the only late bloomer!

I suppose I've always known and have tried a little bit of dressing over the years when my family has been away. However, the size differences between my wife and me are such that it hasn't always been satisfactory (nicked her clothes I'm afraid).

However, like the other contributors to this thread, something went bang for me at 48, the end of last year. Now I've bought my own, albeit limited wardrobe, and have started splashing out on half decent makeup. Like many of the girls I like MAC. Only need a wig now and I'll have the whole set!

Anyway, it's fun now that I'm gettng over the guilt feeling and starting to articulate in my own mind exactly where on the CD /TV / TG / TS continuum I sit. This site is great on that score and really helps think things through.

The desires still come and go - even chucked some stuff out a few months back - but when they're here it does feel good; like just now typing this post fully dressed and made up.

I had a few episodes early on in my childhood none really major and a couple of playful times trying on of lingerie with the wife but then at about 48 it caught fire. I started shaving, buying panties, bodysuits for bedtime, looking into feminization treatments and more. Now seven years later, it is raging all the more with bras, masculine looking woman's wear most times, women's shoes and got my ears pierced. Some makeup too. Is is something in the water?

Between 40 and 50 must be some watershed for us CDers. I started getting serious about it around my 50th birthday. With help from my wife in the last 2 years: I've gone out in public during the daylight, Met other CD's who go out dancing and clubbing, Used a pool at a motel in a 1 piece bathing suit, Been to shows and museums en femme, And gone off alone en femme.

I don't know if it's the extra time you have available after the kids are more or less grown. Maybe it's the "what the hell" attitude you can get when you're old enough to know better, but too damn old too care! It's been a great time for me and yes, I wish I had started younger. My skin is good, but would have been better if I had been blocking and moisturizing it for decades.

    One word: Yes!

I denied it for 10 years, maybe 20 actually. heck, make that 25.....

With the in ternet and being able to order stuff online it's easier, not that it ever stopped me before, but between that and being a bit more stable in life, it called me in.....

The past 10 years I started shaving my legs and arms/pits and eventually slid right into it, at home though....

Kayla, I could have written the very same post you did!!!! I do wish I would have acted on it earlier, but I would bet I would'nt have the wonderful family I have right now. With that thought I am happy (to a point) I waited.

    Not alone

    Hi Karla,
I too started much later then I wished I had now. About 5 yrs ago for me was my first time. I sure became adicted fast too. Unbelievable how it gets under your skin. I love the feeling of dressing up and feeling fem.
I also get a huge kick out of how other women react. Mainly it has been one of quick feels and gropping. lol Not that I'm complaining. Thank goodness I'm bi or I might have been getting offended. NEVER!!! lol
    Good luck girlfiend.

I'm 19 now and I started seriously about 4 months ago. I got an early start but I do still wish I would have gotten an erlier start. I have a friend who's mom started him on it when she was born and she loves every minute of it, in fack her mother gave her a girl name also.

    Wink Getting a late start

i am 49 and have just started wearing blouses, skirts, panties and of course lingerie more frequently. Like others I regret that I did not wear ladies clothes more often when I was in my 20's and 30's. I have enjoyed wearing lingerie since I was about 16. I sometimes wish I was born a female.

    Sally,

And between 50 and 60 doesn't seem to bad, either! I started almost 2 years ago at the age of 57.

I agree with you about the extra time and "what the hell" attitude - I think it's those two things that have allowed me to get into this much more than I would have earlier. And that 'tude thing may explain why my wife has been so supportive, too.

Yeah, it woulda been nice to have started sooner, but I wasn't the same person then - now CD'ing seems so natural, I think I was just waiting for the right time.

    Natalie
