Believe or not, there is a teleporter that scientist are playing with. It is called "Quantum Teleportation". Right now they can only teleport photons, but it does work. They also playing around with a form of Faster Than Light Communications. Here they take a photon and split it into two quantum bits. You keep one and send the other someplace else. Then if you cause one to rotate CW, the other will also rotate CW. So far they have not been able to measure any delay when the first one starts to rotate and the second starts to rotate. ALso they have put these on opperate sides of the earth and still can not see any delay. They therioze that it happens no matter how far appart the two quantum bits are. Both of these have been written up in "Scientific America".
Transporters and such seem very far fetched and, as has been said, we don't yet have the computer power to do anything like that. But remember, it was only 50 years or so ago, that we couldn't have put a common calculator in our closet. Now, you can hold it in the palm of your hand. With the way technology keeps advancing, who knows what the future will bring.
I can remember early calculators. The one I had came as a kit with "Nixie" tubes for the display, and were about the size of an old adding machine. The cost was $139.00. That was maybe 1970 I think.
Ge-wiz, we've come a long way. You can get a watch with a calculator and a phonebook built right in now. And I understand they're working on adding a cellphone to it.
How a modern nixie-tube clock.... http://www.electricstuff.co.uk/nixclock.html

I for one want to go through the Stepford Wives Machine and become the perfect woman, of course my mate would also be a perfect woman.
I'd settle for a complete head to toe body suit, would never have to shave, style my wig, or attempt to apply make-up again....
kris_dresser, they do make a body suit that covers the entire torso, but they are a bit pricey. It does make you perfectly shaped though.
I was looking through my favorites, or bookmarks as some browsers refer to them, and I can't seem to find a link to it.
But, there are full body suits out there, if you look.

Something close to the nail pen is entirely possible in the not too distant future. The catch is that I think it's unlikely they will be able to make one that will work on the nail itself. I would envision it would still require you to paint your nails with something, and that substance would have properties that the pen CAN change.
