I'm "passing", only I'm not dressed femme!

This is hysterical because it's now happened twice in a couple of days. Saturday night, wifey and I went to dinner for a very rare date just on our own. I've never gone out dressed and haven't dressed all-over in quite a while anyway, but I've let my hair get kinda' long and am wearing it with that "screwed up on purpose" look.

Anyway, we get in the restaurant, get seated, and the waitress comes up and asks "How are you ladies doing?" I just about fell out. I was wearing a dress shirt and slacks, my wife was dressed to the nines. And what was funniest, the lady waitress didn't correct herself. It wasn't until I finally spoke that she kinda' got a flustered "oh, I screwed up" look on her face. My wife was great about it and we laughed a lot - I told her she may now be an honorary lesbian.

So, today at lunch, I went to the drive-thru at BK, and at the window, the lady says, "$4.11 ma'am." I chuckled, paid her, and when she handed me the food, she still said, "thank you ma'am." I'm dressed totally normal wearing a baggy sweatshirt!

Who knows, if this continues, maybe my wife and I will go out as a couple of ladies out on the town! Just wanted to let ya'll know, I'm in a better frame of mind and am finally having some fun again.

Being a retired military with long shoulder length hair, I was to enter a local military base. While wearing sunglasses and a denim shirt I drive up to the gate presented my retired military ID card and the guard stated "have a nice day Ma'am" And I proceeded on my way.

Acouple of years ago, same thing happened to me except the waiter correted himself. Long hair does that to people, especially if it is naturally curly like Lucy (Van Pelt?) used to say. My wife now requires my to cut my hair every few months, not letting it get to a length that causes confusion.

When I was single and let my hair get too long, I got Ma'amed a fair amount from waitresses, regardless of what I was wearing.

I haven't been out dressed yet, but on day I was in Dollar General here in town to pick up a couple of their 2-liter bottles of cola. When I got to the register, the lady scanned the two bottles, looked up at me asn said... "Is that all Ma'am?" Well I looked at her and said no, piad her and left. I was perplexed because I thought I looked like a guy. Maybe I missed a bit of makeup or something. Guess I'll never know.

Not to boast, but it happens to me so much now. But you have to also realize, some clerks only a split second look at you while they're doing their job. In other instances, I can be asking a simple question and they still have female address to give me. Like some, I too wonder if I left some makeup on LOL. But I think it's really because of my long hair which I keep tied back most of the time.

I was wearing some foundation though when a dad told his child to let the "auntie" past in a mall. Longish hair also, can't remember if it was open or in a ponytail.

you lucky, lucky, person you! I would kill to be mistaken for a woman twice when en drab in only two days. Actually it has happened, but only three times in the last three years. One time the woman who called me ma'am corrected herself immediately, the second time I could tell that the woman knew she had made a mistake but she said nothing, and the third time I was with my wife and she got confused and said "ladies, err... sir,...I mean ma'am"

I get the same thing all of the time, I just take it as a compliment it is just the inner me projecting herself into the outer worldl. It is not one thing but everything put all together it is the real me they see.

Last August it was wife's birthday, so I took her and my sister to Oklahoma to one of the casino's. We stopped to eat breakfest and this female wiatress took us to our table, saying "This way ladies". Then when we were seated, she asked "What can I get you ladies to drink". After she left, both my wife and sister looked at me. I just sat there and look at them. Then later we went to lunch at a different restraunt and almost the same thing happen. I was in total boy mode the whole day.

I've had that happen a number of times. With long hair and having had electrolysis for a while I guess it should be expected.

The best time was once at the PO. I was waiting behind a guy at the counter and he was going to have to take a little more time, so he said to the girl behind the counter, "Why don't you wait on her first". The girl kind of chuckled a little. Why? Because I go to the PO in girl mode quite regularly, but she knew this day I was in 'boy mode'! If I remember it was in the fall or spring and I had a fairly heavy GUY coat on because it was kind of cool.

This is happening to me quite frequently. I am a sustitute in the local school system and I have students say, "is that a woman," or, "that's a guy,I thought it was a woman." I am always in full guy mode at school. I find, on one hand I think I like it and on the other it sort of disturbes me. I am also 56 with longish hair,maybe I have that middle age no gender look! While I'm not one who tries to pass, and have a shaved head, I must have a somewhat feminine voice, because I often get called miss or mam on the telephone.
