Girls, I've read a lot of reasons here and I've made my own list.
Since there are only 10 choices, feel free to add your own.
Why do you do it?
It's just a habit that I can't seem to break
It's an addiction, but I'm not seeking treatment
It's a hobby that I've taken up to spend my time
It's just a pastime, but it keeps me pretty busy
I don't need a reason, I just do it, it's who I am
It's a virus, and nobody's searching for a cure
It's genetic, and I must have inherited it
It's learned behavior, and I had a good teacher
I can't help it, I was born this way
The devil makes me do it, and don't bother praying for me

I voted "I don't need a reason", but you didn't include:
I like the feel of nylon, polyester, rayon, cashmere, velveteen, etc. sliding over my body as I move. I like the breezes up and down my whole body on a hot day. I hate having tight things around my waist. I like the way lots of female clothes feel, in general.
what if you were born this way i can't help being me it's who i am

I think I was born with a natural disposition to it, but I needed a trigger. I got one and now I'm a hopeless (and happy) lost case

I believe it's something I was born with but then again I wouldn't have known that at the time. Having been curious about it when I was very young and then trying it I fell in love with style and the feel of the fabrics.
It may be genetic in some way, but I selectes that I don't need a reason.

I do it because I like it. I do it because I need to. It feels normal to be in women's clothes. It's an outward expression of what's on the inside. That's as close as I can come to an answer.

To me, it´s a hobby with a nice erotic touch. I love the feel of smooth fabrics, a skirt around my legs, things like that. Apart from that, I find using makeup very erotic.
Got tired of being a female to male crossdresser.
I was unable to vote on this because my reasons are different. I do it to balance my male and female energies. If I do not keep them balanced, my energy abilities will not function. So, it is a matter of practicality to continue my work with positive energy.
How about all the above
Why not? It's fun!
...and hell yeah I'm the motherf--king princess!
Ronna,
I don't like a lot of your choices, some make it sound like we are just strange and weird people, we are not, it is just a natural feeling that completes you. That is my answer, " It is a natural feeling that completes me".

I was skinny and weak as a boy ... terrible in sports and all things boyish. With such an androgynous body, I found by age 11 that I looked quite nice in my mom's dresses and skirts. Perhaps that's why I began dressing and continue to do to this day ... feeling comfortable in a body that is more feminine than masculine.

Sometimes I make sense and that frightens me.

I'm not certain I like how you phrased all your choices b/c they are dualities that are not necessarily logical matches. Combine genetics (b/c I truly believe that is a viable part of it all) with "born this way" (which is in agreement with the genetic theory), add "regardless, it IS who I am," then mix in that I absolutely LOVE that I am what I am (took years to get to this point of self-acceptance), then add in a whole bunch of what also has been said in that it balances me! (By the way, please take no offense that I said I wasn't certain that I liked how you phrased your choices b/c no offense was intended; it was just that especially as a retired teacher and coach, I saw some construction problems in how you were forming your choices -- some redundant, some with internal disagreement, and some with, it would seem, a thesis already mapped out.)
Because society has defined I must wear something that doesn't feel like me. The same with accessories and make-up and how I use my hair.
Someone decided it is not acceptable for men to wear certain clothes, and I don't agree with that.

You did not give a choice along these lines:
I could not find the woman of my dreams so I decided to become her.

Dressing gives me the chance to escape my drab male life for at least awhile.
Women have much more varied choices in clothing.
